The role of genetic polymorphisms in the sulfation of pregnenolone by human cytosolic sulfotransferase SULT2B1a [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
Pregnenolone is a key intermediate in the biosynthesis of many steroid hormones and neuroprotective steroids. Sulfotransferase family cytosolic 2B member 1 (SULT2B1a) has been reported to be highly selective to sulfate pregnenolone.

Ameletus Mayflies (Ephemeroptera: Ameletidae) of the Eastern Nearctic [PDF]

open access: yesInsects
Fourteen Ameletus species are recognized in the eastern Nearctic (south of the Artic zone), including six described as new. Keys to adult males and full-grown larvae are provided. Taxonomic decisions were based on morphologic and genetic evidence.

ALLOZYME DIVERGENCE WITHIN THE BOVIDAE [PDF]

open access: yesEvolution, 1990
We describe a phylogeny of the Bovidae based on 40 allozyme loci in 27 species, representing 10 of the 14 bovid tribes described by Vrba (1985). Giraffe represented a related family (Giraffidae). A phenogram was derived using the unweighted pair-group method with arithmetic means (UPGMA), based on Nei's genetic distances (ND) between species.

Genesis, Evolution, and Genetic Diversity of the Hexaploid, Narrow Endemic Centaurea tentudaica

open access: yesDiversity, 2021
Within the genus Centaurea L., polyploidy is very common, and it is believed that, as to all angiosperms, it was key in the history of its diversification and evolution. Centaurea tentudaica is a hexaploid from subsect. Chamaecyanus of unknown origin. In

Temporal isolation between two strongly differentiated stocks of the Greenland halibut ( Reinhardtius hippoglossoides Walbaum, 1792) from the Western Barents Sea [PDF]

open access: yesPolish Polar Research, 2021
Identification of discrete stocks of Greenland halibut is an important aspect of proper fisheries exploitation. Available literature data indicated a lack of significant inter‑area differences between Greenland halibut populations from the Northeast ...

Genetic Differentiation Among Three Species of \u3ci\u3eParadosa\u3c/i\u3e (Arachnida: Lycosidae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Allozymic variation in nine protein producing loci was examined in three species of Pardosa using starch gel electrophoresis. Allozyme frequencies showed a high degree of geographic uniformity among conspecific populations. Estimated heterozygosities for

i.). This species is one of the most important potential donors of desirable genes for the improvement of cultivated wheats. Two kinds of studies may help to increase the use of the genetic resources of wheat. These are the investigation of the genetic structure of wild wheats natural populations (BROWN 1978), and the genetic mapping of both cultivated

No more time to stay ‘single’ in the detection of Anisakis pegreffii, A. simplex (s. s.) and hybridization events between them: a multi-marker nuclear genotyping approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A multi-marker nuclear genotyping approach was performed on larval and adult specimens of Anisakis spp. (N = 689) collected from fish and cetaceans in allopatric and sympatric areas of the two species Anisakis pegreffii and Anisakis simplex (s.

Phylogeny of beech in western Eurasia as inferred by approximate Bayesian computation

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2018
The Fagus sylvatica L. species complex in Europe and Western Asia comprises two commonly recognized subspecies, F. sylvatica subsp. sylvatica [= F. sylvatica sensu stricto (s. str.)] and F. sylvatica subsp. orientalis (= F.

Genetic differentiation in Scottish populations of the pine beauty moth Panolis flammea (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Pine beauty moth, Panolis flammea (Denis & Schiffermüller), is a recent but persistent pest of lodgepole pine plantations in Scotland, but exists naturally at low levels within remnants and plantations of Scots pine.
