Cisplatin, a chemotherapy medication employed in the treatment of various solid tumors, is constrained in its clinical application due to nephrotoxicity. Diallyl trisulfide (DATS), a compound derived from garlic that possessed anticancer and antioxidant properties, can be combined with cisplatin without hindering its antitumor effects.

Abstract Aryl allyl sulfones, analogous to propynyl sulfones, undergo facile SO2 elimination under electron impact. However, the 2-butenyl-1,4-diaryl sulfones, analogous to the 2-butynyl-1,4-diaryl sulfones exhibit propensities of remote group interaction and extrusion of the C4H6 moiety separating the sulfone functions.

(Trimethylsilyl)methyl allylic sulfones in intramolecular 4 + 3 cycloadditions
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 1993Treatment of (trimethylsilyl)methyl allylic sulfones tethered to a furan with trimethylaluminum results in the formation of products derived from the intramolecular 4+3 cycloaddition of the corresponding allylic cations. 2,5-Disubstitution on the furan precludes the formation of cycloadducts and results in two different classes of products which ...

Abstract An efficient synthesis of vinyl sulfones 3a-o from aryl methyl ketones 2 bearing an electron withdrawing group and the phosphonic ester 1 under sonochemical conditions is reported. These compounds are generally obtained as an E/Z mixture. Formation of the allyl sulfones 4 is also observed.
