Aloe vera gel activity against plant pathogenic fungi

Abstract The antifungal activity of Aloe vera gel at 1–105 μl l−1 was tested on four common postharvest fruit pathogens: Penicillium digitatum, P. expansum, Botrytis cinerea, and Alternaria alternata. The natural gel suppressed both germination and mycelial growth with P. digitatum and A. alternata being the most sensitive species.

Equilibrium Sorption Isotherms of Aloe Vera Gel Powder

The equilibrium moisture content of dehumidified air-dried Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis Miller) gel powder was measured by the static gravimetric method. The equilibrium was achieved after 10 days for adsorption at 25 °C, 32 °C, and 39°C with water activity ranging from 0.10 to 0.90.

Cytotoxicity of a low molecular weight fraction from Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis Miller) gel

The cytotoxicity of a low mol. wt fraction (LMWF) obtained from Aloe vera gel was determined by two different assays. Firstly, exposure of monolayers of chicken fibroblasts to LMWF induced disruption of intercellular junctions and detachment of individual cells from the bottom of the flask, with formation of cell-free gaps in the monolayer.

Effect of aloe vera gel on nipple sores

Objective: It is estimated that 80-90% of breastfeeding women experience nipple soreness. In this study we evaluated the effect of Aloe Vera gel compared with breast milk on nipple sores. Methods: This clinical trial study was performed in the neonatal ward of the Ghaem Hospital in Mashhad (Iran) from June 2009 to December 2009.
