Alopecia mucinosa.

We have followed up the clinical course of 50 patients wtih alopecia mucinosa. These patients have been classified into three groups. Group 1 consisted of 18 patients with one or two skin lesions usually located on the face or scalp. They were observed for an average of four years. All these patients showed complete remission of their skin lesions with

Alopecia Mucinosa With Neurofollicular Changes

This is the first report, to my knowledge, of physiologic verification of neural alteration in patches of alopecia mucinosa. The patient had a loss of the triple response of Lewis, loss of histamine flare, and loss of sweat response to methacholine chloride in the areas of alopecia mucinosa.

Alopecia Mucinosa (Follicular Mucinosis) in a Dog

Abstract— A 10‐year‐old male Labrador Retriever dog presented with alopecia and scaling that was extensive in the head and limb regions and patchy over the trunk. The major histopathological feature was degeneration of the outer root sheath with disruption of keratinocytes and formation of cystic spaces filled with mucin.

Dysesthesia in Alopecia Mucinosa

Ferreira-Marques reported 1 a case of alopecia mucinosa in which sensory dysesthesia of a peculiar sort was demonstrated in the skin lesions. The patient felt light touch, pain, and cold less well in the lesions than in the adjacent normal skin, but perceived hot water (at 44-50 C) as hotter in the lesions than elsewhere.

Anesthesia in alopecia mucinosa.

A 23-year-old woman was noted to have a hypoesthetic patch over the right mandible. A biopsy specimen revealed alopecia mucinosa. Anesthesia in the involved area has been reported rarely in the literature.
