ALOS-2 first year operation result
2015 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2015The Advanced Land Observing Satellite-2 (ALOS-2) was launched from Tanegashima Space Center by H-IIA rocket successfully on 24th May 2014. The Phased Array type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar-2 (PALSAR-2) is the state-of-the-art L-band SAR system which succeeds to PALSAR onboard ALOS.

Influences of metal (Cu, Ag, Au) doping on (AlO) 2 /(AlO) 2 − square-planar units
Computational and Theoretical Chemistry, 2017Abstract Due to their unique chemical reactivity, transition-metal-doped aluminum oxides have received increased attention. In this work, the influences of metal (Cu, Ag, Au) doping on small (AlO)2 and (AlO)2− rings have been investigated using density functional theory (DFT) and topological analysis of the electron density.

2013 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium - IGARSS, 2013
The Advanced Land Observation Satellite-2 (ALOS-2) will be launched in 2013 and will carry an L-band synthetic aperture radar (PALSAR-2) to a polar orbit with an altitude of 628 km and 14-day revisit time. Four mission objectives are disaster mitigation, environmental monitoring as represented by forest and cryospheric monitoring, land monitoring, and ...

Environmental monitoring by ALOS-2 quad. pol. observation
2016 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2016This paper presents model-based scattering power decomposition images acquired with Advanced Land Observing Satellite 2 (ALOS-2) operating at the L-band frequency. Using the advantages of penetrating and fully polarimetric capabilities in the L-band, real applications on the environmental monitoring such as forest change, flooding, volcano ...

Performance of ALOS-2 PALSAR-2 for disaster response
2017 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2017In 2016, the Advanced Land Observing Satellite-2 (ALOS-2, “DAICHI-2”) observed various disaster affected areas. Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) operated the emergency observation more than hundred times in the year. The Phased Array type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar-2 (PALSAR-2) aboard ALOS-2 contributed for detecting the disaster affected

Burn Scar Detection Using Polarimetric ALOS-2 Data
IGARSS 2018 - 2018 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2018Fire is both a natural disturbance regime and a threat to infrastructure, forestry and human lives. Satellite remote sensing offers a fast and efficient way to reliably estimate the burnt area. In most cases, optical satellite data are used for burn scar detection. Nevertheless, smoke, clouds or rain can decrease the quality of classification. In these

ALOS-2 current status and operation plan
SPIE Proceedings, 2013The Advanced Land Observing Satellite-2 (ALOS-2) carries the state-of-the-art L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) called PALSAR-2 which succeeds to the ALOS / PALSAR. PALSAR-2 will have enhanced performance in both high resolution and wide swath compared to PALSAR. It will allow comprehensive monitoring of disasters.
