STUDY FOR LAND SURFACE PROPERTIES WITH ALOS PALSAR

open access: yesSTUDY FOR LAND SURFACE PROPERTIES WITH ALOS PALSAR
China is a country with vast land and various kinds of land surface. Study for land surface properties with the advanced ALOS/PALSAR system will contribute to solving scientific problems addressing many environmental issues in a broad range of Earth science disciplines.

ALOS PALSAR Investigation of Coastal Geomorphologic Mapping

open access: yesALOS PALSAR Investigation of Coastal Geomorphologic Mapping
High precision DEM of a tidal-flat is valuable to coastal management as well as pure scientific interest including erosion and sedimentation rate study. Geomorphologic mapping in coastal zone is, however, complicated by the rapid and significant changes on many fluvial forms and poor topographic expression of the landform. Three space-borne SAR systems

ALOS-PALSAR image simulation in various polarization bases [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2003
The ALOS-PALSAR is the first L-band space-borne SAR in the world equipped with a fully polarimetric data taking function. For the data utilization purpose, the authors have examined the polarimetric performance (scattering matrix and resultant images) over the Toyano area, Niigata City, Japan, using the airborne Pi-SAR radar.

ALOS-PALSAR Quad. Pol. images and their applications

open access: yes2009 2nd Asian-Pacific Conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar, 2009
The four-component scattering power decomposition is applied to ALOS-PALSAR Quad. Pol. Data sets. PALSAR is Phased Array type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar onboard ALOS (Advanced Land Observing Satellite) launched by JAXA, Japan, in 2006. It has acquired more than 10000 fully polarimetric scenes although the polarimetric mode is experimental one ...

Detection of forest changes using ALOS PALSAR satellite images

open access: yes2007 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2007
A controlled experiment has been performed to quantify the ability to detect clear-cuts using ALOS PALSAR data. The experiment consisted of 8 old spruce dominated stands, each with a size of about 1.5 ha, located at a test site in southern Sweden. Four of the stands were clear-felled and the remaining stands were left untreated for reference.

Contribution of ALOS PALSAR data to forest characterization and monitoring in Australia

open access: yes2015 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2015
Research in Australia has focused on using the combination of moderate (25-30 m) spatial resolution ALOS PALSAR, Landsat-derived persistent green fractional cover and ICESAT GLAS data to generate maps of the structure of forests as an intermediate step to mapping above ground biomass (AGB) and AGB change using combinations of JERS-1 SAR, ALOS PALSAR ...

Assessing the Accuracy of ALOS/PALSAR-2 and Sentinel-1 Radar Images in Estimating the Land Subsidence of Coastal Areas: A Case Study in Alexandria City, Egypt

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2021
Recently, the Differential Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (DInSAR) technique is widely used for quantifying the land surface deformation, which is very important to assess the potential impact on social and economic activities. Radar satellites
