Donor‐derived tdTomato+ mature hepatocytes were FACS‐isolated and transplanted into Fah−/− host mice. During regeneration, these cells convert into proliferative, unipotent Afp+ rHeps. Their plasticity is governed by a PPARγ/AFP‐dependent metabolic switch, segregating into pro‐proliferative Afplow and pro‐survival Afphigh subpopulations.

Maternal serum alpha-fetoprotein levels in fetal hydrocephalus: a retrospective population based study [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Although maternal serum alpha-fetoprotein (MSAFP) is a highly sensitive marker for certain congenital malformations such as open neural tube and ventral wall defects, its usefulness as a screening test for fetal hydrocephalus is uncertain. We

Alpha-fetoprotein: a renaissance
Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a major mammalian embryo-specific and tumor-associated protein that is also present in small quantities in adults at normal conditions. Discovery of the phenomenon of AFP biosynthesis in carcinogenesis by G. Abelev and Yu. Tatarinov 50 years ago, in 1963, provoked intensive studies of this protein.

We evaluated whether anatomical resection (AR) provides an oncological benefit over non‐anatomical resection (NAR) in solitary hepatocellular carcinoma ≤ 5 cm without predicted microvascular invasion or intrahepatic metastasis, identified by preoperative DCP ≤ 150 mAU/mL.
