Abstract Temperature and air humidity are critical environmental factors regulating photosynthesis and biogenic volatile organic compound (BVOC) emissions from plants, which influence air quality and climate change. While previous research has demonstrated the impacts of temperature on photosynthesis and BVOCs, the effects of humidity and the combined ...

Natural volatiles impair the response of Hylobius abietis adults to synthetic attractants in Norway spruce clear cut areas [PDF]
For over 20 years it has been known that mature adults of Hylobius abietis are attracted by the combination of alpha-pinene and ethanol. However, it is not clear to what extent weevil response to these stimuli is influenced when large quantities of ...

The “gut‐joint axis” in knee synovitis is uncovered. Integrated multi‐omics studies are conducted in two independent osteoarthritis cohorts. Synovitis is characterized an increased F/B ratio, as well as alterations of 3‐HIA, geranic acid, and TWEAK. Upregulated TWEAK receptor is found in high‐grade synovitis, and inversely correlated with lower TWEAK ...

Influence of seed aerosol surface area and oxidation rate on vapor wall deposition and SOA mass yields: a case study with α-pinene ozonolysis [PDF]
Laboratory chambers, invaluable in atmospheric chemistry and aerosol formation studies, are subject to particle and vapor wall deposition, processes that need to be accounted for in order to accurately determine secondary organic aerosol (SOA) mass ...

Luminescent Chiral Molecular Glasses by Melt‐Quenching Enantiopure BINAP
Melt‐quenching of enantiopure BINAP yields transparent chiral molecular glasses that retain axial chirality and display blue‐shifted luminescence together with strongly enhanced circularly polarized emission with dissymmetry factors |glum| of ≈10−2.

From farm to pharma, this review details the engineering of quality in medicinal plants through a science‐driven approach: it first elucidates how genetic and environmental factors inscribe the plant's phytochemical and phytopharmacological profile before harvest, and then dissects the postharvest techniques and technologies—chemical and thermal pre ...

Lipase-mediated epoxidation of alpha-pinene
This work describes the lipase-mediated synthesis of alpha-pinene oxide at ambient temperature. The immobilized lipase from Candida antarctica (Novozyme 435) is used to generate peroxyoctanoic acid directly from octanoic acid and hydrogen peroxide. The peroxy acid formed is then applied I for in situ oxidation of alpha-pinene.
