Host odour alpha-pinene increases or reduces response of Ips avulsus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae) to its aggregation pheromone, depending on separation of release points

Canadian Entomologist, 2023
Monoterpenes in the resin of host trees are important host-location and -selection signals for conifer-infesting bark beetles and can increase or reduce responses to aggregation pheromones.

Preventive Effect of Alpha-pinene on Cisplatin-induced Kidney Injury by Oxidative Stress, Inflammation and Apoptosis via NF-κB Signaling Pathway

Letters in Drug Design & Discovery, 2023
The chemotherapy medication cisplatin is highly effective and is used in treating a wide variety of cancers. Tumor resistance and dose-related severe side effects, including kidney and hearing damage and suppressed bone marrow function, limit its ...

Neuroprotective effect of alpha‐pinene is mediated by suppression of the TNF‐α/NF‐κB pathway in Alzheimer's disease rat model

Journal of biochemical and molecular toxicology, 2022
Monoterpene alpha‐pinene possesses antioxidant, cardioprotective, and neuroprotective properties. We evaluated the effect of alpha‐pinene on oxidative/nitrosative stress, neuroinflammation, and molecular and behavioral changes induced by beta‐amyloid (Aβ)

Molecular simulation studies of Alpha Pinene, an alkene in search for oxidative stress targeted therapeutic paradigms for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease: A computational approach and its in-vitro antioxidant validation

Letters in Drug Design & Discovery, 2021
The present study was expected to explore the molecular interaction of five oxidative stress (OS) associated target receptors with Alpha-Pinene and its antioxidant validation for the effective treatment of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Oxidative stress

Protective effect of alpha-pinene against isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarction through NF-κB signaling pathway

Human and Experimental Toxicology, 2020
Monoterpenes present in the essential oils exhibit anti-inflammatory properties. In this study, we investigated the preventive effect of alpha-pinene (AP), a monoterpene, against isoproterenol (ISO)-induced myocardial infarction and inflammation in ...

Isomerization of alpha-pinene to camphene

2019
The catalytic isomerization reaction of cr-pinene to camphene over a clinoptilolite catalyst was investigated in a batch reactor open to the atmosphere between 130 and 155 degrees C. The catalyst was selective to the isomerization of alpha-pinene to camphene.
