Aging is a normative biological process, and not simply a physical one. It is not accurate to define it by the fact that life has an entropic cost, and to characterize it as a pure imbalance between exergonic and endergonic reaction in metabolism (the free radical theory of aging) or finally as an imbalance between the excessive formation of reactive ...

Alteration of Prostanoids in Atherosclerosis
Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, 1985We have briefly summarized only the data obtained in our own laboratory without including an extensive literature review. We have evaluated the changes in platelet membrane phospholipids and prostanoid formation in platelets. In atherosclerosis platelets show an activated prostanoid formation, whereas the plasma PGI2 levels are decreased.

In this note we point out a not easily fillable gap in the proof of a major result in Chebyshev approximations on an interval [α, β]. Tornheim developed a theory for approximation by families unisolvent of degree n (n-parameter families), which was extended by Rice to families unisolvent of variable degree.

We introduce a new Galois connection for partial operations on a finite set, which induces a natural quasi-order on the collection of all partial algebras on this set. The quasi-order is compatible with the basic concepts of natural duality theory, and we use it to turn the set of all alter egos of a given finite algebra into a doubly algebraic ...

“The eye altering alters all”, William Blake
Practical Neurology, 2011Walking to work at St Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota, USA, as a visiting internal medicine resident in February 2010, I noticed some strange grey spots dancing in my visual field and thought them rather odd. I had never experienced this before and put it down to the glare from all the surrounding snow. Little did I know at the time that this was

Alteration of the state general or alteration of the clinical relevance?

Will altered fraction schemes alter the future?
International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, 1990Advanced stage tumors of the head and neck have provided an important testing ground for new concepts of treatment. Within the past decade they have been used to evaluate radiotherapy alone and in combination with surgery, chemotherapy and various response modifiers. As the 1990’s begin.

Produktives Alter, nachhaltiges Alter?
