Alternative methods for chlorination
Science of The Total Environment, 1985Existing disinfectants are oxidative agents which all present negative effects on subsequent treatment processes. None of them has decisive advantages over chlorine, although chlorine-dioxide and chloramines might at times be preferable. Optimum treatment practices will improve the removal of organic precursors before final disinfection which could ...

An Overdetermined Schwarz Alternating Method
SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing, 1996Among the various modifications of the Schwarz alternating method (SAM), the generalization of the SAM using Robin condition on the artificial boundaries improves the rate of convergence considerably. On the other hand, sensitivity of the convergence to the parameter in the Robin condition has limited its practical applications.

Alternating Direction Implicit Methods
1962Publisher Summary Alternating direction implicit methods, or ADI methods as they are called for short, constitute powerful techniques for solving elliptic and parabolic partial difference equations. However, in contrast with systematic overrelaxation methods, their effectiveness is hard to explain rigorously with any generality.

An alternative method for windup prevention
at - Automatisierungstechnik, 2021Abstract Windup effects can be subdivided into controller windup and plant windup. Controller windup can be prevented by stabilizing the compensator during saturation and plant windup by an additional dynamic element. When using a compensating design, i.

Alternative Method for Hazelnuts Peeling
Food and Bioprocess Technology, 2011The paper proposes an improved peeling treatment for hazelnut fruits consisting in dipping them in a solution (NaOH 0.4 g/100 g, NaH2PO4·H2O 0.2 g/100 g) for 10 min at 50 °C, then scrubbing them with rubber rollers. The effects of the treatment on quality and peeling of four Italian hazelnut varieties were investigated.

To increase reliability of transmission between magnetic tape and core storage on an IBM 7090/7094, blocks or records of data are often assigned a word called a logical checksum. This is a number derived from the block by some simple algorithm and as unique to it as possible.
