Evaluation of non-chemical seed treatment methods for the control of Alternaria dauci and A. radicina on carrot seeds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The current study was initiated to evaluate the efficacy of physical methods (hot water, aerated steam, electron treatment) and agents of natural origin (resistance inducers, plant derived products, micro-organisms) as seed treatments of carrots for ...

Draft Genome Sequence of Alternaria alternata ATCC 34957 [PDF]

open access: yesGenome Announcements, 2016
ABSTRACT We report the draft genome sequence of Alternaria alternata ATCC 34957. This strain was previously reported to produce alternariol and alternariol monomethyl ether on weathered grain sorghum. The genome was sequenced with PacBio technology and assembled into 27 scaffolds with a total genome size ...

Decoding plant defense signaling using the defenseless mutant

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Can plants live without defenses? Mutant analysis in Arabidopsis thaliana has identified numerous regulators of biotic, abiotic, and hormone‐based defenses, but the redundancy among separate defense pathways remains unexplored. We constructed an Arabidopsis mutant, defenseless, lacking six canonical defense pathways using abi1‐1 (abscisic acid),

Tenuazonic acid production by Alternaria alternata and Alternaria tenuissima isolated from cotton [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1977
Cultures of Alternaria alternata (three isolates) and Alternaria tenuissima (three isolates) obtained from cottonseeds and bolls were toxigenic when cultured on various laboratory media. A mycotoxin was isolated and identified as tenuazonic acid by using solvent partition, thin-layer chromatography, and instrument analyses.

Alternaria alternata Effector Aa593 Promotes Virulence by Hijacking the CmNAC29‐Mediated Abscisic Acid Biosynthesis Pathway in Chrysanthemum

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The interaction between plants and pathogens has long been an actively researched field of plant immunity. In this study, we found an Aa593/CmNAC29‐CmNCED3 module associated with the interaction between chrysanthemum and the fungal pathogen Alternaria alternata.

Alternaria alternata as a mycoparasite of Rhizopus nigricans

open access: yesActa Mycologica, 2014
Interaction between Alternaria alternata and Rhizopus nigricans was studied in vitro in dual cultures to examine their antagonistic behaviour. A. alternata parasitised R. nigricans by direct penetration of hyphae, sporangiophores and sporangia.

3‐Methyl‐1‐Butanol Enhances Postharvest Resistance of Red Grapes to Botrytis cinerea by Activating Phenylpropanoid Metabolism and Antioxidant Defences

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Grey mould, caused by Botrytis cinerea, is a significant postharvest disease leading to substantial economic losses in the grape industry. This study investigated the regulatory mechanism of 3‐methyl‐1‐butanol (3M1B), a yeast volatile substance, on B. cinerea resistance in red grapes (Vitis vinifera L.).
