Identification and distribution of a fungal endosymbiotic Alternaria species ( Alternaria section Undifilum sp.) in Astragalus garbancillo tissues

Mycologia
Plants belonging to the genera Astragalus, Oxytropis, Ipomoea, Sida, and Swainsona often contain the toxin swainsonine (SW) produced by an associated fungal symbiont. Consumption of SW-containing plants causes a serious neurological disorder in livestock, which can be fatal.

Molecular characterization of a new botybirnavirus that infects Alternaria sp. from tobacco

Archives of Virology
The genus Alternaria comprises many important fungal pathogens that infect a wide variety of organisms. In this report, we present the discovery of a new double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) mycovirus called Alternaria botybirnavirus 2 (ABRV2) from a phytopathogenic strain, XC21-21C, of Alternaria sp. isolated from diseased tobacco leaves in China.

Growth inhibition of Alternaria sp. and Fusarium sp. by the action of lactic acid bacteria

Proceedings & abstracts of 12th international scientific/professional conference Agriculture in nature and environment protection, 2019
Spontaneous fermentation by the action of lactic acid bacteria has been used since ancient times in various food products. Even today, they are irreplaceable in the food and feed industries. They are used as probiotics and a source of vitamins and enzymes. Studies have also found antifungal properties of lactic acid bacteria.
