The Derived Subgroups of Sylow 2-Subgroups of the Alternating Group, Commutator Width of Wreath Product of Groups

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
The structure of the commutator subgroup of Sylow 2-subgroups of an alternating group A 2 k is determined. This work continues the previous investigations of me, where minimal generating sets for Sylow 2-subgroups of alternating groups were ...

ON THE CHARACTERISATION OF ALTERNATING GROUPS BY CODEGREES

open access: yesBulletin of the Australian Mathematical Society
AbstractLet G be a finite group and $\mathrm {Irr}(G)$ the set of all irreducible complex characters of G. Define the codegree of $\chi \in \mathrm {Irr}(G)$ as $\mathrm {cod}(\chi ):={|G:\mathrm {ker}(\chi ) |}/{\chi (1)}$ and let $\mathrm {cod}(G):=\{\mathrm {cod}(\chi ) \mid \chi \in \mathrm {Irr}(G)\}$ be the codegree set of G.

Generators for Alternating and Symmetric Groups [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Australian Mathematical Society, 1971
Let Γ denote the modular group, that is, the free product of a group of order 2 and a group of order 3. Morris Newman investigates in [2] the factor-groups of Γ and calls them Γ-groups for short; thus a group is a Γ-group if and only if it has a generating set consisting of an element of order dividing 2 and an element of order dividing 3.

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Comparison of ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer thickness among patients with intermittent exotropia according to fixation preference: a retrospective observational study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Yeungnam Medical Science
Background This study was performed to compare the thickness of the ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer (GCIPL) depending on the presence or absence of fixation preference in patients with intermittent exotropia (IXT) with refractive values close to ...

Formal preparation of regioregular and alternating thiophene–thiophene copolymers bearing different substituents

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2020
Differently substituted thiophene–thiophene-alternating copolymers were formally synthesized employing a halo-bithiophene as a monomer. Nickel-catalyzed polymerization of bithiophene with substituents at the 3-position, including alkyl-, fluoroalkyl-, or

To coagulate, ligate, or both: a randomized study comparing the safety and efficacy of two endoscopic approaches for managing gastric antral vascular ectasia in cirrhotic patients

open access: yesEgyptian Liver Journal, 2022
Background Gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE) is an uncommon but important cause of gastrointestinal bleeding in cirrhotic patients. Argon plasma coagulation (APC) is the standard therapy for GAVE.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.
