Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Coupling of alternative splicing and alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesActa Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica
RNA splicing and 3'-cleavage and polyadenylation (CPA) are essential processes for the maturation of RNA. There have been extensive independent studies of these regulated processing events, including alternative splicing (AS) and alternative polyadenylation (APA).

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...

Here Comes Everybody: humanities computing meets the era of social media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This article sets out to re-evaluate some of the themes raised in the Alternation number on humanities computing that I guest edited in 2002, and to trace their subsequent evolution.

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Empty alternation

open access: yes, 1994
. We introduce the notion of empty alternation by investigating alternating automata which are restricted to empty their storage except for a logarithmically space-bounded tape before making an alternating transition. In particular, we consider the cases

Influence of Scan Strategies in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion on Solidification, Microstructure, and High‐Temperature Compressive Properties of γ′‐Strengthened Inconel 738LC

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Experiments and thermophysical simulations were conducted to investigate the electron beam powder bed fusion electron beam (PBF‐EB/M) process for the γ′‐strengthened nickel‐based superalloy Inconel 738LC. The results demonstrate the impact of process‐induced microstructural variations on high‐temperature mechanical behavior, providing a basis for ...

Place Alternation in Satiated Rats

open access: yes, 1965
When tested in a +-maze in which response and place alternation could be opposed, 20 non-deprived rats displayed a significant place alternation tendency. This appears contrary to one of M. E. Thompson's theoretical assumptions.

Semantic Modeling in Materials Science and Engineering With Platform MaterialDigital Core Ontology 3.0

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The community‐driven Platform MaterialDigital Core Ontology (PMDco) 3.0 is introduced as a Basic Formal Ontology‐aligned semantic backbone for the processing–structure–properties paradigm in Materials Science and Engineering. Modular engineering, automated releases, and validation workflows are highlighted and key semantic patterns for materials ...

Alternation for sublogarithmic space-bounded alternating pushdown automata [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This paper investigates infinite hierarchies on alternation-depth and alternation-size of alternating pushdown automata (apda's) with sublogarithmic space.
