Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Combined application of Isaria fumosorosea and beta-cyfluthrin in the control of coffee leaf miner

open access: yesRevista Ceres, 2022
The coffee leaf miner is responsible for significant decreases in coffee production. To mitigate the problems caused by this pest control strategies need to be applied.

On the Klainerman-Machedon Conjecture of the Quantum BBGKY Hierarchy with Self-interaction

open access: yes, 2015
We consider the 3D quantum BBGKY hierarchy which corresponds to the $N$-particle Schr\"{o}dinger equation. We assume the pair interaction is $N^{3\beta -1}V(N^{\beta}\bullet).$ For interaction parameter $\beta \in(0,\frac23)$, we prove that, as $N ...

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

Soluble Receptor Isoform of IFN-Beta (sIFNAR2) in Multiple Sclerosis Patients and Their Association With the Clinical Response to IFN-Beta Treatment

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
PurposeInterferon beta receptor 2 subunit (IFNAR2) can be produced as a transmembrane protein, but also as a soluble form (sIFNAR2) generated by alternative splicing or proteolytic cleavage, which has both agonist and antagonist activities for IFN-β ...

The Information Geometry of the Ising Model on Planar Random Graphs

open access: yes, 2002
It has been suggested that an information geometric view of statistical mechanics in which a metric is introduced onto the space of parameters provides an interesting alternative characterisation of the phase structure, particularly in the case where ...

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

Abeta(1-42) induces abnormal alternative splicing of tau exons 2/3 in NGF-induced PC12 cells

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2014
Protein tau plays a pivotal role in the pathophysiology of Alzheimer's disease, where its hyperphos-phorylation promotes aggregation and microtubule destabilization.

Boosted beta regression. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Regression analysis with a bounded outcome is a common problem in applied statistics. Typical examples include regression models for percentage outcomes and the analysis of ratings that are measured on a bounded scale.
