Eco‐Efficient in Mediterranean Olive Grove Systems: Insights From a Life Cycle Cost Analysis in Southern Portugal

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study assesses and compares the eco‐efficiency of six olive production systems in the Alentejo region, southern Portugal, employing a life cycle costing (LCC) approach directly integrated with a prior life cycle assessment (LCA). Although LCC has been increasingly applied to Mediterranean olive‐growing, empirical research in Portugal ...

Decarbonization of shipping: Hydrogen and fuel cells legislation in the maritime industry

open access: yesBrodogradnja
The maritime industry is a significant component of the transportation sector. Ships are the major element of the maritime industry, and propulsion power comes from fossil fuels, such as heavy fuel oil or marine diesel oil. These fossil fuels are used in

Prospective LCA of E‐Methanol Along the Transformation of Steel Industry

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
The environmental effects of change in steel production route on e‐methanol production are analyzed as they shift from blast furnace route to direct reduction route. Specific hydrogen demand reduces, as do the avoided CO2 emissions. E‐methanol's overall carbon footprint stays in a narrow range of −1 to −1.1 kg‐CO2‐eq./kg‐methanol.
