ENERGY PERFORMANCE OF HYDROCARBON REFRIGERANT AS A POSSIBLE ALTERNATIVE REFRIGERANT TO R134A IN DOMESTIC REFRIGERATORS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Al-Azhar University Engineering Sector, 2019
The performance of a domestic refrigerator is theoretically assessed in this study. Therefrigerator utilizes R1234yf as an alternative refrigerant for R134a. The performance isevaluated for three condensing temperatures, specifically, 30, 40, and 50°C at differentevaporator temperatures, ranging −30 and 0°C.

Climate-safe refrigerants

open access: yes, 2023
Refrigerant is the working medium of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems. Currently, synthetic refrigerants are the dominant refrigerants for cooling, but the emissions from synthetic refrigerants into the atmosphere will destroy the ozone layer ...

2D Co‐Mo‐Hydroxide‐Based Multifunctional Material for the Development of H2‐Based Clean Energy Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
2D α‐Co(OH)2 interleaved with Mo species displays an appealing dual functionality for the production and use of green hydrogen.Mo incorporation greatly benefits the electrochemical behaviour in Oxygen Evolution Reaction for H2 production, while the magnetocaloric response at liquid H2 temperature paves the way for alternative cryogenic refrigerants ...

Thermodynamic Evaluation of Low-GWP A1 Refrigerants for Ultra-Low Temperature Refrigeration Applications

open access: yesEnergies
Slow market development has caused the lack of low-GWP A1 refrigerants for ultra-low temperature (ULT) refrigeration. Consequently, the high-GWP refrigerant R23 (GWP = 14,600) remains widely used within the ULT sector.

Analyzing the carbon dioxide emissions of R134a alternatives in water-cooled centrifugal chillers using the life cycle climate performance framework

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2023
Introduction: To reduce greenhouse gases, the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol seeks a phasedown of hydrofluorocarbons. R134a alternatives were analyzed for use in a water-cooled chiller: R450A, R513A, R516A, R1234ze (E), R515A, and R515B ...

3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.

Thermodynamic screening of alternative refrigerants for R290 and R600a

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2020
Due to Regulation EU 517/2014 (F-Gas), the use of refrigerants with GWP higher than 150 was limited from 2015 on in small capacity refrigeration systems in Europe.

Gapless Superconductivity From Extremely Dilute Magnetic Disorder in 2H‐NbSe2‐xSx

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that 2H‐NbSe2‐xSx hosts gapless superconductivity at unexpectedly low magnetic impurity concentrations. Combining STM, Bogoliubovde Gennes simulations, DFT, and quasiparticle interference, we comprehensively study the development of gapless behavior and show that SeS substitution reshapes the band structure, enhances nesting, and drives ...

Signatures of Edge States in Antiferromagnetic Van der Waals Josephson Junctions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The combination of superconductivity and magnetic textures leads to unconventional superconducting phenomena, including new correlated and topological phases. Van der Waals (vdW) materials emerge as a versatile platform for exploring the interplay between these two competing orders.
