Cyclic oxidation of cobalt-chromium-aluminum-yttrium and aluminide coatings on IN-100 and VIA alloys in high velocity gases [PDF]

open access: yes
Embedded-alumina-particle aluminide (EAPA) coated and CoCrAlY coated IN-100 and NASA-TRW-VIA specimens were cyclically oxidation tested in a high velocity (approximately Mach 1) gas flame at 1093 C (2000 F).

Deposition of a low-activity type cobalt-modified aluminide coating by slurry aluminizing of a pre-Co-electroplated Ni-based superalloy (IN738LC)

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Incorporating the Co element into the β-NiAl phase as a third element enhances the hot corrosion and oxidation properties of aluminide coatings. The deposition of Co-modified aluminide coatings is limited to co-deposition by the pack cementation method ...

Influence of surface treatment on metal dusting resistance of welds

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, Volume 75, Issue 3, Page 371-385, March 2024.
Fe contaminations enhanced metal dusting pit formation on brushed welds of Ni‐based alloys. The best performance of the welds was achieved by grinding, this is attributed to the deformation of the sub‐surface zone. Additional protection by on‐site slurry aluminization was successfully demonstrated.

A New Al2O3‐Protected EB‐PVD TBC with Superior CMAS Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 11, Issue 5, February 2, 2024.
This study introduces a novel microstructural design for yttria‐stabilized zirconia (YSZ) thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) to resist calcium‐magnesium‐aluminum‐silicate (CMAS) attack. It employs a drip coating method to create a thin nanoporous Al2O3 layer around YSZ columnar grains, enabling fast crystallization of molten CMAS close to the TBC surface.

Ni–W diffusion barrier: Its influence on the oxidation behaviour of a β-(Ni,Pt)Al coated fourth generation nickel-base superalloy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A Ni–W base diffusion barrier (DB) has been developed to limit interdiffusion between a fourth generation Ni-base superalloy (MCNG) and a Pt-modified nickel aluminide bondcoat. After long term oxidation, the DB layer permits to reduce the Al depletion in

Effect of Co doping on hot corrosion behavior of aluminide coating on Mo-rich single-crystal superalloy exposed to Na2SO4+NaVO3 at 750 °C and 900 °C

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
This study presents a comparative investigation on the hot corrosion behavior of Mo-rich single-crystal superalloys with simple aluminide coatings and Co-modified aluminide coatings under molten salt corrosion by 75 wt % Na2SO4 + 25 wt % NaVO3 mixture at

Investigation into high-temperature corrosion in a large-scale municipal waste-to-energy plant

open access: yes, 2010
High-temperature corrosion in the superheater of a large-scale waste-to-energy plant was investigated. A comparison of nickel-/iron-based alloys and austenitic stainless steel probes placed in the furnace demonstrated that temperature and particle ...
