Machinability of Aluminium Matrix Composites
Solid State Phenomena, 2012The today's interest in MMCp results from a number of their creative properties, which can be designed through a proper selection of reinforcing components and technological parameters. The composite machine elements such us engine, compressor parts obtained by casting methods require the specially final machining.

Reinforcement in aluminium metal matrix composites
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2019Metal matrix composites offer a number of advantages compared to their base metals, such as higher specific strengths and moduli, higher elevated temperature resistance, lower coefficients of thermal expansion, and, in some cases, better wear resistance. On the down side, they are more expensive than their base metals and have lower toughness.

Tribology and Aluminium Matrix Composites
2015Knowledge of tribology is very old but much attention has been paid only in the 20th century. It is science and technology of interacting surfaces in sliding, rolling, or any other kind of motion. Tribology includes knowledge of wear, friction, and lubrication, which is of much importance in designing of machine components.

Properties of semisolid aluminium matrix composites
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 1994Steady state viscosities of partially solidified composites have been determined using a high temperature viscometer. The composites are based on the alloy A356, reinforced with SiC particles (13 μm; up to 30 vol.%) or SiC short fibres (14 μm diameter; 10 vol.%). The average fibre length was 50–100 μm.

Machinability of Particulate Aluminium Matrix Composites
CIRP Annals, 1992Mechanical and physical properties of light metal matrix composites (MMC) indicate that these materials could play a significant role in applications for engineering components. The aim of this investigation has been to enhance the knowledge about the machinability of a specific particulate aluminium matrix composite (AISi7Mg) alloy reinforced with 14 ...

Corrosion behaviour of aluminium matrix composites
Journal of Materials Science, 1995Samples of aluminium alloy 2014 reinforced with 20–40 vol % of alumina or silicon carbide particles were tested by the potentiodynamic polarization technique. The chosen medium was 0.1m lithium perchlorate which tends to cause localized corrosion. The measurements revealed no impairment of the corrosion performance of the matrix alloy as a result of ...

Damping behaviour of aluminium matrix composites
Materials Science and Technology, 2004AbstractThe damping behaviour of 6061Al/SiC/Gr and 6013Al/SiC/Gr hybrid metal matrix composites, which were fabricated by spray codeposition, was studied. From the experimental results, it was found that a damping peak at ~150°C existed in the damping spectra of these composites, no matter whether measured during heating or cooling. Through a series of

Drilling of hybrid aluminium matrix composites
The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2006This paper presents the influence of cutting parameters on thrust force, surface finish, and burr formation in drilling Al2219/15SiCp and Al2219/15SiCp-3Gr composites. The composites were fabricated using the liquid metallurgy method. The tools used were commercially available carbide and coated carbide drills. The results revealed that feed rate had a

Joining of Aluminium Metal Matrix Composites
Materials and Manufacturing Processes, 2005ABSTRACT Aluminium metal matrix composites (AlMMCs) offer several advantages relative to monolithic aluminium alloys such as high stiffness, strength, wear resistance, low thermal expansion coefficient, etc. However, despite considerable improvements in developing AlMMCs, the lack of reliable joining methods restrict their greater application.
