Wear behaviour of an aluminium matrix composite
Fatigue & Fracture of Engineering Materials & Structures, 2008ABSTRACTThe wear behaviour of a composite material consisting in AS12UNG alloy reinforced with 15% short fibres of alumina has been studied. The material composition and the wear test conditions were defined in order to evaluate the potential performance of automotive pistons produced with such composite composition.

2004The work is aimed at evaluating the feasibility of the diecasting process, applied to discontinuously reinforced aluminium alloys. The potential of metal matrix composites has been limited, up to now, by the high costs associated to manufacturing and machining.
