Thermal Stability of Aluminum Alloys [PDF]
Thermal stability, determining the material ability of retaining its properties at required temperatures over extended service time, is becoming the next frontier for aluminum alloys. Its improvement would substantially expand their range of structural applications, especially in automotive and aerospace industries.

Temporal power modulation increases weld depth in high‐power laser beam welding of dissimilar round bars by nearly 20% compared to same average continuously welded welding power. The mechanism of action also applies to sheet welding and depends on the inertia of keyhole depth for the modulated laser beam power.

Anomaly Detection Method for Hybrid Workpieces Using Dynamic Time Warping
Monitoring of hybrid workpieces: when machining hybrid workpieces, unavoidable axial deviations of the material transition zone cause temporal shifts in the process force signals. A new anomaly detection method based on dynamic time warping is proposed to detect material defects.

Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) for Developing Aluminum Alloys
The ICME (Integrated Computational Materials Engineering) for aluminum alloys was applied to combine key experiments with multi-scale numerical simulations from nano (10-10-10-8 m) to micro (10-8-10-4 m) to meso (10-4-10-2 m) and to macro (10-2-10 m ...

In this study, how friction‐welding parameters (rotational speed, etc.) affect the morphology, distribution, and local thickness of the intermetallic compound layer (IMC‐layer) in friction‐welded steel‐aluminum hybrid components is investigated. In the results, it is shown that lower speeds (700 rpm) lead to a more uniform, thinner IMC‐layer (<0.5 μm),

Mechanical properties of friction stir welded aluminum alloys 5083 and 5383
The use of high-strength aluminum alloys is increasing in shipbuilding industry, particularly for the design and construction of war ships, littoral surface craft and combat ships, and fast passenger ships. While various welding methods are used today to
