The Contribution of Molecular Diffusion in Silica Coating and Chemical Reaction in the Overall Rate of Reaction of Aluminum Hydroxide with Fluosilicic Acid [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2005
The kinetic of the heterogeneous chemical reaction of aluminum hydroxide and fluosilicic acid was studied. It was found that the diffusion of the reactants through the porous silica coating to the aluminum hydroxide surface and the interfacial chemical ...

Leaching Properties of Estuarine Harbor Sediment Before and After Electrodialytic Remediation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Electrodialytic remediation (EDR) can be used to extract heavy metals from a variety of different media. In this work, contaminated harbor sediments from two locations in the United States and one in Norway were subjected to EDR, and were compared with ...

Substrate Engineering for Durable Omniphobic Liquid‐Like Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The significant yet less investigated role of substrates in determining the liquid‐repellency and mechanical durability of liquid‐like surfaces (LLSs) is explored. Thick and crack‐free sol–gel silica intermediary layers are developed that can smoothen substrate asperity roughness even at the micron scale, enabling omniphobic polydimethylsiloxane‐based ...

Biodegradable and Recyclable Luminescent Mixed‐Matrix‐Membranes, Hydrogels, and Cryogels based on Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks and Biopolymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...

Effect of hybrid accelerator on the property of CFBFA-based foamed concrete

open access: yesShenzhen Daxue xuebao. Ligong ban
Circulating fluidized bed fly ash (CFBFA) is a major by-product of modern coal combustion technologies. Foamed concrete with a high CFBFA content can meet insulation requirements for building partition walls.

Removal of fluoride from drinking water using aluminum hydroxide coated activated carbon prepared from bark of Morinda tinctoria

open access: yesApplied Water Science, 2017
The aim of this study is to design and develop a novel cost effective method for fluoride removal, applicable to rural areas of developing countries. Adsorption is widely considered as one of the appropriate technologies for water defluoridation.

Heat capacities of aqueous sodium hydroxide/aluminate mixtures and prediction of the solubility constant of boehmite up to 300 °C [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A modified commercial (Setaram C80) calorimeter has been used to measure the isobaric volumetric heat capacities of concentrated alkaline sodium aluminate solutions at ionic strengths from 1 to 6 mol kg-1, with up to 40 mol.% substitution of hydroxide by

Aluminum hydroxide nanoparticles show a stronger vaccine adjuvant activity than traditional aluminum hydroxide microparticles [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Controlled Release, 2014
Aluminum hydroxide is used as a vaccine adjuvant in various human vaccines. Unfortunately, despite its favorable safety profile, aluminum hydroxide can only weakly or moderately potentiate antigen-specific antibody responses. When dispersed in an aqueous solution, aluminum hydroxide forms particulates of 1-20μm.
