The Role of Aluminum Substitution on the Stability of Substituted Polyhedral Oligomeric Silsesquioxanes

Zeitschrift für Physikalische Chemie, 2016
Abstract A first principles density functional theory calculation has been carried out to study the energetics and structural properties of substituted polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) as a function of the POSS cage size. The substitution of Si atom in the POSS molecules has been performed in three different ways, namely (i ...

Synthesis and structure of aluminum substituted MoSi2

Solid State Communications, 2003
Mo(Si1_xAlx)2 compositions have been prepared by a modified SHS route under pressure. The compositional phase analysis indicates a body centered tetragonal C11b phase below x lt; 0.05 substitution, above which a biphasic region of C11b and C40 structure coexists. Occurrence of pure hexagonal C40 phase is observed for x gt; 0.1.

Aluminum‐Substituted Gyrolite as Cation Exchanger

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1990
A successful Al‐substituted gyrolite has been hydrothermally synthesized at 220°C under saturated steam pressure, and its cation exchange characteristics for K + and Cs + ions have been investigated. Al‐substituted gyrolite took up K

Fluoroaryl-substituted ketiminate complexes of aluminum

Journal of Organometallic Chemistry, 2005
Abstract The ketiminate complex AlCl[OC(Me)CHC(Me)N(p-C6H4F)]2 (4) has been prepared from the β-aminoenone, O C(Me)CH C(Me)N(H)(p-C6H4F) (3) by lithiation of 3 with n-BuLi, followed by reaction with AlCl3 and by the reaction of 3 with Me2AlCl. A second compound, [AlCl2{O C(Me)CH C(Me)N(H)(p-C6H4F)}4][AlCl4] (5), was also isolated from the AlCl3 ...

Mössbauer study of aluminum-substituted hematites

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1982
Abstract A Mossbauer spectroscopic study is reported on a series of aluminum-substituted hematites, α(Fe1-cAlc)2O3, with c up to 0.32. These samples were prepared by heating aluminum-substituted goethites, αFeOOH, at 500°C. X-ray line broadening gives particle dimensions of ≃200 A to >1000 A.

Enantioselective Adsorption Characteristics of Aluminum-Substituted MFI Zeolites

Chemistry of Materials, 2010
Using computer simulations, we have studied the adsorption of racemic and scalemic mixtures of 4-ethyl-4-methyloctane molecules in aluminum-substituted MFI zeolites containing positively charged ions. Our results show that aluminum distribution affects the shape of the enantiopure adsorption isotherms, which is contrary to previously established ...

Reversal of Aluminum-Related Bone Disease After Substituting Calcium Carbonate for Aluminum Hydroxide

American Journal of Kidney Diseases, 1988
Aluminum-related osteodystrophy, a crippling disease in patients with renal failure, can develop from the long-term ingestion of aluminum hydroxide gels. We present a diabetic patient treated with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) who developed markedly elevated plasma aluminum levels but no musculoskeletal symptoms. Bone biopsy revealed

Chromate Adsorption on Goethite: Effects of Aluminum Substitution

Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1989
Abstract The adsorption of CrO 2‐ 4 to goethites varying in specific surface area and Al substitution was measured over a range in pH, sorbate and sorbent concentrations and ionic strength. The α‐(Fe, Al)OOH exhibited a lower pH 50
