Applicability of using shoot growth parameters as indices of screening for the tolerance of wheat genotypes to aluminum

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2002
Shoot and root growth parameters were adopted to screen for aluminum tolerance in wheat based on a large-volume solution culture and a small-Zpot soil test. The results showed significant differences in aluminum tolerance among 24 tested wheat genotypes.

Tolerancia al aluminio en especies vegetales: mecanismos y genes

open access: yesUniversitas Scientiarum, 2013
Agricultural production in the Colombian Orinoco is affected by the high aluminum content found in 4.5 million hectares. Genotypes of different species have acquired different levels of tolerance and signaling pathways through various mechanisms, making ...

Isolation of Aluminum-Tolerant and -Absorbing Yeast

open access: yesBiocontrol Science, 2020
Aluminum ions are toxic to bacteria and are thus frequently used for preservation in the food industry. However, at higher concentrations, aluminum is toxic to animals. The extraction of aluminum from aluminum-contaminated foods would therefore be beneficial. Based on the discovery of yeast strains that can tolerate and absorb toxic metals, we aimed to

Tolerance analysis approach based on the classification of uncertainty (aleatory / epistemic) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Uncertainty is ubiquitous in tolerance analysis problem. This paper deals with tolerance analysis formulation, more particularly, with the uncertainty which is necessary to take into account into the foundation of this formulation.

Comprehensive evaluation of the response to aluminum stress in olive tree (Olea europaea L.)

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Olive (Olea europaea L.) is an ancient tree species in the Mediterranean, but the lack of knowledge about aluminum-resistant varieties limits its introduction to acidic soil.

Genotypic Variation in Seedling Tolerance to Aluminum Toxicity in Historical Maize Inbred Lines of Zambia

open access: yesAgronomy, 2015
Maize (Zea mays L) is the most important food grain in sub-Saharan Africa and is mostly grown by small-scale farmers under rainfed conditions. Aluminum toxicity caused by low pH is one of the abiotic factors limiting maize production among smallholder ...

Identification of two chickpea multidrug and toxic compound extrusion transporter genes transcriptionally upregulated upon aluminum treatment in root tips

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Aluminum (Al) toxicity poses a significant challenge for the yield improvement of chickpea, which is an economically important legume crop with high nutritional value in human diets. The genetic basis of Al-tolerance in chickpea remains unclear. Here, we

Mechanisms of Aluminum Tolerance in Triticum aestivum L. (Wheat). II. Differential pH Induced by Spring Cultivars in Nutrient Solutions. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Twenty spring cultivars of Traticum aestivum L. (wheat) were grown in solution culture with and without aluminum (A1) (74 gM, 2.0 mg L-l) for 14 days.

Overexpression of BdMATE Gene Improves Aluminum Tolerance in Setaria viridis

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2017
Acidic soils are distributed worldwide, predominantly in tropical and subtropical areas, reaching around 50% of the arable soil. This type of soil strongly reduces crop production, mainly because of the presence of aluminum, which has its solubility ...

Growth Response and Dry Matter Partitioning of Quality Protein Maize (Zea mays L.) Genotypes under Aluminum Toxicity

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
In this work, 75 quality protein maize (QPM) inbred lines were evaluated for aluminum tolerance using a nutrient solution assay in a laboratory and a soil-based technique in a greenhouse tunnel. The experiment was set up in a completely randomized design
