Guided Bone Regeneration in Alveolar Bone Reconstruction
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics of North America, 2019Guided bone regeneration is an effective alternative for the reconstruction of atrophic ridges. Adequate flap management together with immobilization of the barrier membrane and graft are crucial to ensure successful regenerative radiographic and clinical outcomes.

Abstract The literature is replete with evidence suggesting that, with advancing age, there is an increased alveolar bone loss. However, there is also clinical evidence that not all persons show bone loss with age. This suggests that either (1) there is physiologic bone loss, which means that it is pathologic to have no bone loss with age, or (2 ...

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1960
Abstract Alveolar bone resorption is one of the most important phenomena in denture construction. Some of the factors to be considered are: 1.1. Alveolar bone resorption after extractions is a normal process. 2.2. The patient's history may reveal systemic diseases which might cause resorption through circulatory disturbances or faulty metabolism ...

Secondary (Intermediate) Alveolar Bone Grafting
Clinics in Plastic Surgery, 1993Secondary bone grafting of the maxilla and the residual alveolar clefts at the stage of transitional dentition, and in conjunction with orthodontic treatment, has become a well-accepted treatment modality. This article discusses the goals of the procedure, the timing of the bone graft, and the design of the flap for soft-tissue coverage of the bone ...

Glycosaminoglycans of human alveolar bone
Archives of Oral Biology, 1989Bone proteoglycan was extracted and the glycosaminoglycan (GAG) components identified. Chondroitin-4-sulphate was the major GAG detected and represented 93.8% of the total GAG extracted. In addition, hyaluronic acid (1.3%), dermatan sulphate (3.1%) and heparan sulphate (1.8%) were identified as minor constituents.

Vestibuloplasty after Secondary Alveolar Bone Grafting
The Cleft Palate Craniofacial Journal, 2001Objective: This paper introduces a surgical technique for vestibuloplasty after secondary alveolar bone grafting of patients with cleft lip and palate (CLP). This paper also reports on the patients who underwent this modified vestibuloplasty. Surgical Procedure: The vestibuloplasty technique described in this paper consists of: (1) reduction of ...

The aim of this study was to compare the quality and quantity of bone produced by alveolar distraction and interpositional bone grafting.Twelve patients requiring alveolar reconstruction were randomly divided into 2 groups. Six patients were treated with alveolar distraction osteogenesis, and 6 were treated with the sandwich osteotomy technique and ...

Bone regeneration in orthodontically produced alveolar bone dehiscences
Journal of Periodontal Research, 1982Orthodontic appliances, designed to tip the maxillary second and third incisors in facial direction, were inserted in 3 dogs. During a 5 month period, the incisors on the left side of the jaw were tipped to a facially displaced position. During a further 5 month period these teeth were moved back to their original position while the two incisors on the
