Clarifying the Labrisomus Conundrum: Deep Divergence, Cryptic Lineages, and a Genetic Melting Pot in the Atlantic Ocean (Teleostei, Labrisomidae)
Journal of Biogeography, Volume 53, Issue 8, August 2026.ABSTRACT Aim
We evaluate the phylogenetic relationships and taxonomic validity of Atlantic species of Labrisomus, identifying the lineages currently assigned to L. nuchipinnis, and assessing the role of biogeographic barriers in shaping the evolutionary history and geographic distribution of the genus. Location
Atlantic Ocean.Gabriel Soares Araujo, João Luiz Gasparini, Luiz A. Rocha, Hudson T. Pinheiro, Marcelo V. Kitahara, Anderson V. Vilasboa, Carol A. Stepien, Sergio R. Journal of Biogeography, Volume 53, Issue 8, August 2026.ABSTRACT Aim
We evaluated how native vegetation cover influences the diversity of arachnid assemblages across multiple spatial scales in major Brazilian ecosystems. Location
Brazil (Amazon and Atlantic rainforests, Cerrado savanna and Caatinga dry forest). Taxon
Arachnida (Opiliones, Pseudoscorpiones and Scorpiones). Methods
We sampled arachnids at 120 André F. A. Lira, Adriano M. DeSouza, Thayna R. Brito‐Almeida, Hugo L. L. Neves, Gilberto G. Rodrigues, Carlos Henrique De‐Oliveira‐Nogueira, Ubiratã F. Journal of Medical Primatology, Volume 55, Issue 4, August 2026.ABSTRACT
Enteroparasites were investigated in free‐ranging Saguinus ursulus from the eastern Brazilian Amazon. Parasites were detected in 76.5% (13/17) of capture events, with Prosthenorchis sp. most frequently detected (58.8%; 10/17). Animals showed good body condition and no clinical abnormalities.Josi Teixeira de Melo, Camille Gabrielle Ramos Portal, João Pedro Carvalho Rodrigues, Paulo Henrique Gomes de Castro, Rafael dos Santos de Andrade, Obadias dos Reis Silva, Gessiane Pereira da Silva, Aline Amaral Imbelone, Frederico Ozanan Barros Monteiro +8 morewiley +1 more sourceForest recovery pathways after fire, drought, and windstorms in southeastern Amazonia. Journal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 4, August 2026.Abstract
This study evaluated the effects of dietary bixin, a carotenoid from Bixa orellana, on larval development, post‐larval performance, and carotenoid deposition in Macrobrachium amazonicum under controlled conditions. Larvae were reared in a recirculating aquaculture system with a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) and fed Artemia nauplii and an ...Tibério Soares e Rodrigues de Oliveira, Luciana Sampaio Lima, Anny Karina do Rosario Rodrigues, Sting Silva Duarte, Wilberforce Ndarawit, Eliane Tie Oba Yoshioka, Victor Hugo Gomes Sales, Njogu M. Natural Resource Modeling, Volume 39, Issue 3, August 2026.ABSTRACT
This study develops a deterministic finite‐horizon bioeconomic control model linking forest biomass, biodiversity, cumulative harvesting pressure, and disturbance‐motivated expected biodiversity losses. Biodiversity is modeled as a productive state variable that feeds back into biomass growth, while cumulative harvesting pressure records the ...Seyedalireza Seyedi, Elettra Agliardi, Anastasios Xepapadeas +2 morewiley +1 more source
