New Mitogenomic Resources for the Caiman yacare (Daudin, 1802) From Bolivia

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
New mitochondrial genomes were generated to enhance the mitochondrial genetic resources available for Caiman yacare. Mitochondrial genomes of approximately 16 kb were obtained through genome skimming using Illumina sequencing technology. The assemblies revealed a composition typical of vertebrate mitogenomes, including 13 protein‐coding genes, 2 rRNA ...

Underwater Hunting in an Arboreal Snake: Predation Notes on Amazonian Frog Larvae

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
We report novel underwater hunting behaviour in a canopy‐dwelling species of snake, the Common Green Racer (Chlorosoma viridissimum). The snake is seen diving and foraging in phytotelmata (water‐filled tree holes), feeding on tadpoles of treefrogs (Trachycephalus resinifictrix, T. hadroceps, and Osteocephalus oophagus). These findings contribute to our

High‐Resolution Digital Terrain Model and Land‐Surface Parameters of São Sebastião and Ilhabela, Southeastern Brazil

open access: yesGeoscience Data Journal, Volume 13, Issue 2, April 2026.
The first openly accessible 2 m‐resolution lidar‐based DTM and an extensive set of land‐surface parameters (LSPs) for the region of São Sebastião and Ilhabela, southeastern Brazil, reveal geomorphological features previously indiscernible, including past landslide deposits, drainage captures and structural lineaments.
