Freshwater Biodiversity Research in Brazil: Trends from a Systematic Review and Topic Modeling

open access: yesInternational Review of Hydrobiology, Volume 111, Issue 2, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Brazil is a megadiverse country that hosts six major biomes and a vast freshwater network. Despite this richness, research on freshwater biodiversity has been heterogeneous across regions, communities, and time, leaving significant knowledge gaps.

New trends in dentistry: plant extracts against Enterococcus faecalis. The efficacy compared to chlorhexidine

open access: yesBrazilian Oral Research, 2013
Enterococcus faecalis is an important pathogen associated with endodontic diseases, and its elimination and control are of paramount importance, as it represents one of the major causes of failure in the treatment of endodontic disease. Twenty-five plant

Run to the Caves: Frog Refuges From Harsh Environments

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 6, November 2026.
ABSTRACT The use of caves by primarily nontroglobiont organisms can be critical when the conditions of surrounding epigean habitats deteriorate as a result of synergic effects of climate changes and degradation of native vegetation cover. Under scenarios of unbalanced temperatures, high solar incidence, low humidity and reduced shelter availability in ...

Intergenerational Green Artificial Intelligence Governance: Operationalising Environmental Accountability in Sustainable Artificial Intelligence Systems

open access: yesApplied AI Letters, Volume 7, Issue 3, October 2026.
The image depicts a conceptual diagram contrasting ‘Red AI’ (harmful, high‐emission AI) with ‘Green AI’ (sustainable AI), bridged by sustainable development goals (SDGs). The graphic illustrates Red AI Legal Governance on the left, showing polluting factories, CO2 emissions, short‐term accuracy and unstable data centres, symbolising environmentally ...

Responses of Water Quality Parameters to El Niño in the Curuá‐Una Reservoir, Amazon Basin

open access: yesCLEAN – Soil, Air, Water, Volume 54, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT The El Niño phenomenon in the Amazon is associated with extreme drought and lower atmospheric humidity, leading to environmental disturbances, such as wildfires and decreased river levels. An exceptionally intense El Niño occurred between 2015 and 2016, reaching historic magnitudes.

Arboreal and Terrestrial Frugivore Vertebrate Assemblage Diversity and Composition Vary With Disturbance Histories in Guianan Forests

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2026.
This study examined the impact of human disturbances on arboreal and terrestrial fruit‐consuming vertebrate assemblages across three tropical forest sites in French Guiana. While species richness remained consistent across sites, results revealed significant variations in visitation rates and a shift in dominant species.

Modeling climate adaptive habitat connectivity for conservation planning in Colombia

open access: yesEcography, Volume 2026, Issue 10, October 2026.
To remain effective under global change, conservation decisions must anticipate shifting climates, species responses to climate change and the dispersal pathways needed to track suitable climate. Yet most assessments of ecological connectivity do not consider how the landscape will change, or, if they do, they only consider a single future time point ...
