P‐49: Improvement of Contrast Ratio in Bright‐Ambient Color ACPDP with High Resolution
SID Symposium Digest of Technical Papers, 1998Abstract Contrast ratio in bright ambient is one of the most important factor of image quality in display picture. In this paper, it is reported that the contrast ratio is improved by applying a reflective structure with white ribs. The structure is applied to surface discharge ac‐PDP with high resolution of 0.13mm, the contrast ratio

P‐101: High Ambient Contrast Ratio OLED and Quantum‐dot LED without a Circular Polarizer
SID Symposium Digest of Technical Papers, 2016A high ambient contrast ratio display device using a transparent OLED or transparent Quantum‐dot LED (QLED) with embedded multilayered structure and absorber is proposed. With the help of the multilayered structure, the device structure allows almost all ambient light to get through the display and be absorbed by the absorber.

74‐1: Invited Paper: Can LCDs Outperform OLED Displays in Ambient Contrast Ratio?
SID Symposium Digest of Technical Papers, 2018We analyse the ambient contrast ratio (ACR) of LCDs and OLED displays at different viewing angles for smartphones, TVs, and public displays. Four primary factors affecting the ACR are surface reflection, light leakage of polarizer, device contrast ratio, and display brightness. Methods for enhancing the ACR of LCDs and OLEDs are discussed.

P‐19.7: Ambient Contrast Ratio Improvement of Low Reflection LCD for Automotive Application
SID Symposium Digest of Technical PapersA LCD for a 12.3 inch vehicle dashboard was proposed to enhance ambient contrast ratio. The LCD can achieve 0.8% reflection by using AR treatment and optimizing shielding layer material. It demonstrates high contrast ratio and color gamut under high ambient light situation.

P.139L: Late‐News Poster : The Advantage on Ambient Contrast Ratio in WRGB OLED Display
SID Symposium Digest of Technical Papers, 2013Abstract We released WRGB OLED Display for TV. The most remarkable difference between ‘WRGB’ OLED Display and ‘RGB’ OLED Display is the usage of Color Filter. So that WRGB OLED Display using Color Filter absorbs light from coming outside and has low reflection characteristics.

P‐88: Low reflection antistatic material design for improving ambient contrast ratio of LCD Panel
SID Symposium Digest of Technical PapersTo enhance the ambient contrast ratio of LCD panel, the reduction of panel reflectance must be considered. A new antistatic material composition is designed to lower the refractive index, and the multilayer structure is derived based on optical simulation.
