Societal Impact of COVID-19 Crisis on the Ambient Seismic Noise in Metropolitan France
The COVID-19 pandemic led to restrictions on human mobility worldwide. In France, numerous phases of lockdowns and curfews were instituted in an attempt to limit the consequences of this pandemic.

The Hudson Bay Lithospheric Experiment (HuBLE) : Insights into Precambrian Plate Tectonics and the Development of Mantle Keels [PDF]
The UK component of HuBLE was supported by Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) grant NE/F007337/1, with financial and logistical support from the Geological Survey of Canada, Canada–Nunavut Geoscience Office, SEIS-UK (the seismic node of NERC ...

Seismic Gradiometry using Ambient Seismic Noise in an Anisotropic Earth [PDF]
We introduce a wavefield gradiometry technique to estimate both isotropic and anisotropic local medium characteristics from short recordings of seismic signals by inverting a wave equation. The method exploits the information in the spatial gradients of a seismic wavefield that are calculated using dense deployments of seismic arrays.

WMSAN Python Package: From Oceanic Forcing to Synthetic Cross-correlations of Microseismic Noise
Seismic ambient noise spectra ubiquitously show two amplitude peaks corresponding to distinct oceanic wave interaction mechanisms called primary (seismic period (T) ~ 14 s) and secondary (T ~ 7 s) microseism.

The influence of noise sources on cross-correlation amplitudes [PDF]
We use analytical examples and asymptotic forms to examine the mathematical structure and physical meaning of the seismic cross correlation measurement.

Dead Sea Basin Imaged by Ambient Seismic Noise Tomography [PDF]
In the framework of the Dead Sea Integrated Research project (DESIRE), 59 seismological stations were deployed in the region of the Dead Sea Basin. Twenty of these stations recorded data of sufficiently high quality between May and September 2007 to be used for ambient seismic noise analysis.

Improving the sensitivity of future GW observatories in the 1-10 Hz band: Newtonian and seismic noise [PDF]
The next generation gravitational wave interferometric detectors will likely be underground detectors to extend the GW detection frequency band to frequencies below the Newtonian noise limit.

Subsurface images of an area with a thick volcanic layer generally cannot be well-imaged with conventional seismic exploration (seismic reflection) due to seismic wave scattering. Another method is needed to obtain an accurate subsurface image in a thick

Extracting information from noise [PDF]
Seismic waves created by sources such as wind, the ocean and human activity propagate inside the Earth all the time. Such waves are often regarded as ‘noise’ by seismologists, however, they travel through the Earth in exactly the same way as those ...
