Subcultured Odontogenic Epithelial Cells in Combination with Dental Mesenchymal Cells Produce Enamel–Dentin-Like Complex Structures

open access: yesCell Transplantation, 2007
We showed in a previous study that odontogenic epithelial cells can be selectively cultured from the enamel organ in serum-free medium and expanded using feeder layers of 3T3-J2 cells.

Deletion of ameloblastin exon 6 is associated with amelogenesis imperfecta [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) describes a heterogeneous group of inherited dental enamel defects reflecting failure of normal amelogenesis. Ameloblastin (AMBN) is the second most abundant enamel matrix protein expressed during amelogenesis.

A Terrestrial Thermometer Using Carbonate Clumped Isotopes From Gar Scales

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 2, February 2025.
Abstract We present a new clumped isotope calibration relating temperature to the Δ47 composition of the bioapatite scales of gar fish (Lepisosteidae family). Modern gars live at <∼3 m depth in rivers and lakes, are non‐migratory, and their scales grow continuously over their lifespan (∼8–14 years).

Cystic ameloblastic fibroma: A rare histological variant of ameloblastic fibroma

open access: yesHuman Pathology: Case Reports, 2020
Ameloblastic Fibroma (AF) is a benign mixed odontogenic tumor that usually affects young patients and is characterized histopathologically by odontogenic epithelial strands in a myxoid cell-rich stroma with stellate-shaped fibroblasts resembling embryonic tooth pulp.

Phosphorylated and Non-phosphorylated Leucine Rich Amelogenin Peptide Differentially Affect Ameloblast Mineralization

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2018
The Leucine Rich Amelogenin Peptide (LRAP) is a product of alternative splicing of the amelogenin gene. As full length amelogenin, LRAP has been shown, in precipitation experiments, to regulate hydroxyapatite (HAP) crystal formation depending on its ...

Characteristics of the transverse 2D uniserial arrangement of rows of decussating enamel rods in the inner enamel layer of mouse mandibular incisors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The 2D arrangement of rows of enamel rods with alternating (decussating) tilt angles across the thickness of the inner layer in rat and mouse incisor enamel is well known and assumed to occur in a uniform and repetitive pattern.

Regulatory Control Of Palatogenesis And Odontogenesis By Specificity Protein 7 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Runx2 and its downstream target Specificity Protein 7 (Sp7) are essential for skeletogenesis. In humans, mutations in Sp7 gene are associated with osteogenesis imperfecta.
