Polydopamine Nanoparticle‐Mediated Precise Near‐Infrared Optical Stimulation for Cognitive Enhancement

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Polydopamine nanoparticles enable a precise, non‐genetic, and transcranial neuromodulation strategy via near‐infrared photothermal stimulation. By activating TRPV1 channels, this approach specifically enhances hippocampal gamma oscillations, thereby rescuing spatial memory deficits in models of perioperative neurocognitive disorder.

THE U.S. SUGAR INDUSTRY UNDER EU AND DOHA TRADE LIBERALIZATION [PDF]

open access: yes
This study evaluates potential reforms of the EU and some liberalization policies under the Doha agenda proposal. Results indicate that EU sugar policy reforms will increase the Caribbean sugar price from 8.7 to 9.96 cents, but will not affect the U.S ...

Disrupting Helicobacter pylori Iron Homeostasis With Bismuth Nanodrug‐Mediated Nutritional Trap for Targeted Gastric Infection Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A “nutritional trap” strategy centered on disrupting bacterial iron homeostasis is proposed. The synthesized Bi‐TP@FU (TBF) can target Helicobacter pylori, interfere with the bacterial iron uptake and utilization processes to disrupt its iron homeostasis, induce bacterial death, and meanwhile preserve the balance of the intestinal flora.

Global welfare effects of transgenic sugar beet [PDF]

open access: yes
Although the EU is still in a quasi moratorium stage concerning GM crops, doors for GM crops in the sugar industry seem to open. Herbicide tolerant sugar beet could mean a boost for the sugar beet sector.

Subversion of Atypical Mucin Traps by a Spore‐Coat Effector Blocks Cellular Immunity in Drosophila

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
While the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium robertsii can evade insect humoral immunity, its subversion of cellular defenses is still elusive. We identify Eac1 as a spore‐coat protein essential for infecting drosophilids by targeting atypical mucins (Sgf1 and Sgf2), which can entrap spores in a gel matrix and thereby facilitate hemocyte encapsulation.

The Global Welfare Effects of GM Sugar Beet under Changing Sugar Policies [PDF]

open access: yes
Since most of the recent agricultural biotechnology innovations have been developed by private companies, the central focus of societal interest is on the distribution of the gains from these technologies among all stakeholders.
