Bumetanide Treatment in 15 Children With Autism: A Randomised Waitlist‐Control Study

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Bumetanide, a diuretic, influences neuronal chloride homeostasis and potentially restores GABAergic inhibition and neuronal signalling balance. This mechanism may contribute to improvements in autism‐related symptoms. The present study builds on the preclinical research and on previous clinical research on bumetanide treatment for children

Cerebellar defects are a primary pathology in mouse models of spinal muscular atrophy

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
Purkinje cell (PC) degeneration is localized to posterior lobules in the cerebellum, and rescue of survival motor neuron protein expression levels in motor neurons does not ameliorate this effect. Representative images of sagittal cerebellar sections stained with anti‐calbindin in the vermis and hemisphere at P12 for wild type, ChATCre+ rescue (Rescue),

Glutaminase‐1 Mediated Glutaminolysis to Glutathione Synthesis Maintains Redox Homeostasis and Modulates Ferroptosis Sensitivity in Cancer Cells

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
GLS1‐mediated glutaminolysis supports GSH synthesis in cancer cells. GLS1 KO increases ROS, downregulates GPX4, and upregulates GPX1, making cells more sensitive to ferroptosis. Combining GLS1 or GPX1 inhibitors with a GPX4 inhibitor synergistically suppresses cancer growth.
