Clinical investigations of 99mTc–p-aminohippuric acid as a new renal agent

Nuclear Medicine Communications, 2009
99mTc-p-aminohippuric acid (PAH) is a new radiopharmaceutical rapidly secreted by the kidneys in a manner consistent with tubular secretion. A comparative study of renal scintigraphy and clearance with 99mTc-PAH, diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid (DTPA) and mercaptoacetyltriglycine (MAG,) was performed.99mTc-PAH was prepared from a lyophilized kit ...

Effects of renal clearance on plasma concentrations of homovanillic acid. Methodologic cautions.

Archives of General Psychiatry, 1989
Recently, there has been considerable interest in plasma concentrations of homovanillic acid (HVA) in various psychiatric disorders. Homovanillic acid is a weak organic acid, and its excretion probably resembles that of other organic acids (eg, p ...

Effect of splanchnicotomy on the renal excretion of para-aminohippuric acid in the anaesthetized dog

Pflgers Archiv European Journal of Physiology, 1977
Renal excretion of para-aminohippuric acid (PAH) was studied during PAH loading on unilaterally splanchnicotomized ("denervated") anaesthetized dogs. Urine flow, sodium excretion of denervated kidneys were significantly increased. Below a plasma concentration of 20 mg% there were no differences between intact and denervated kidneys in urinary excretion

A structural and spectroscopic study on para-aminohippuric acid with experimental and theoretical approaches

Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2012
In this work, the molecular conformation, vibrational and electronic analysis of para-aminohippuric acid (pAHA, C(9)H(10)N(2)O(3)) were presented for the ground state using experimental techniques (FT-IR, FT-Raman and UV) and density functional theory (DFT) employing B3LYP exchange correlation with the 6-311++G(d,p) basis set.

Renal amino acid metabolism during endotoxemia in the rat.

Journal of Surgical Research, 2000
BACKGROUND The kidney has an important function in the exchange of nitrogenous metabolites. Glutamine is the most important substrate for renal ammoniagenesis and thus plays a crucial role in acid-base homeostasis.

Quantitative studies on tryptophan metabolism in the pyridoxine-deficient rat.

Journal of NutriLife, 1963
Female rats weighing about 40 g were fed a pyridoxine-deficient diet. Control animals received the same diet supplemented with 2.5 mg of pyridoxine hydrochloride/kg of diet.

Synthesis of p-aminohippuric acid analog and its labeling by technetium-99m

International Journal of Radiation Applications and Instrumentation. Part A. Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1989
A procedure is described for the synthesis of p-[(bisacarboxymethyl)aminomethyl carbamino] hippuric acid (PAHIDA). The compound was identified by i.r. and NMR spectroscopy. A lyophilized complex was prepared and labeled with 99mTc. The purity of the preparation is better than 98%. The stability of the 99mTc-PAHIDA complex is achieved 8 h after labeling.

Blood-ocular and blood-brain barrier function in streptozocin-induced diabetes in rats.

A M A Archives of Ophthalmology, 1984
Edetic acid labeled with chromium 51 was injected intravenously in normal rats and in rats with streptozocin-induced diabetes. One hour after the injection the animals were killed and the concentrations of edetic acid 51Cr in vitreous body, retina, and ...

Cancer reduces the metabolic response of muscle to surgical stress in the rat.

Journal of Surgical Research, 1998
The metabolic response to surgical stress is characterized by muscle protein breakdown and mobilization of amino acids, e.g., glutamine, from peripheral tissue to visceral organs.

Effects of azotemia on renal extraction and clearance of PAH and TEA.

American Journal of Physiology, 1976
Dogs were made azotemic by bilateral ureteral-venous anastomosis. Subsequently, the left ureter, a systemic artery, and the left renal vein were cannulated. Left renal blood flow (RBF) was measured by an electromagnetic flowmeter.
