Ammonia Inhalation

The Journal of Trauma: Injury, Infection, and Critical Care, 1985
Because of the widespread use of ammonia in industry and agriculture there is a growing opportunity for ammonia burns to occur. Two fatal cases are presented. The injury is thermal as well as chemical, to skin, eyes, airway and lungs. Prompt (5-10 seconds) irrigation of the eyes is required, and immediate treatment of airway and pulmonary injuries ...

Ammonia Transport

EcoSal Plus, 2004
This review reviews the ammonium/methylammonium transport (Amt) proteins of Escherichia coli and Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium. The Amt proteins and their homologs, the methylammonium/ammonium permease proteins of Saccharomyces cerevisiae , constitute a ...

Plasma ammonia is the principal source of ammonia in sweat

European Journal of Applied Physiology and Occupational Physiology, 1992
Sweat contains ammonia. However, neither its source nor factors affecting its concentration in the sweat are known. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of plasma concentrations of ammonia and urea on the concentration of ammonia in the sweat. Four groups of male volunteers were examined: one control, two after ingestion of ammonium chloride,

The role of ammonia in promoting ammonia borane synthesis

Dalton Transactions, 2016
Mechanistic studies point toward added ammonia acting as a reagent while promoting the high-yielding synthesis of pure ammonia borane from sodium borohydride and ammonium salts.

Ammonia−Water Cation and Ammonia Dimer Cation

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2009
We have investigated the structure, interaction energy, electronic properties, and IR spectra of the ammonia-water cation (NH(3)H(2)O)(+) using density functional theory (DFT) and high-level ab initio theory. The ammonia-water cation has three minimum-energy structures of (a) H(2)NH(+)...OH(2), (b) H(3)N(+)...OH(2), and (c) H(3)NH(+)...OH.

Ammonia metabolism

American Journal of Physiology-Renal Physiology, 1978
The pathways responsible for an the mechanisms underlying the adaptive increase in ammonia production in response to acidosis are considered. It seems unlikely that the cytosolic pathways (glutamine synthetase, glutaminase II, phosphate-independent glutaminase, and gamma-glutamyl transferase) are of primary importance in the adaptive process, but the ...

[Effect of Free Ammonia on Ammonia Escape During an Ammonia Oxidation Process].

Huan jing ke xue= Huanjing kexue, 2017
This study used short process nitrification sludge to investigate the effect of high free ammonia (FA) on ammonia escape during ammonia oxidation. A sequencing batch reactor (SBR) was used to study the ammonia escape process under different FA concentrations.
