A review on ammonia, ammonia-hydrogen and ammonia-methane fuels
Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2021Abstract Combustion of fuels to generate energy is integral to various human activities, both domestic and industrial. However, the predominance of hydrocarbon fuel usage produces emissions containing pollutants that cause multiple environmental complications and risks to human health.

The Journal of Trauma: Injury, Infection, and Critical Care, 1985
Because of the widespread use of ammonia in industry and agriculture there is a growing opportunity for ammonia burns to occur. Two fatal cases are presented. The injury is thermal as well as chemical, to skin, eyes, airway and lungs. Prompt (5-10 seconds) irrigation of the eyes is required, and immediate treatment of airway and pulmonary injuries ...

Ammonia−Water Cation and Ammonia Dimer Cation
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2009We have investigated the structure, interaction energy, electronic properties, and IR spectra of the ammonia-water cation (NH(3)H(2)O)(+) using density functional theory (DFT) and high-level ab initio theory. The ammonia-water cation has three minimum-energy structures of (a) H(2)NH(+)...OH(2), (b) H(3)N(+)...OH(2), and (c) H(3)NH(+)...OH.

Ammonia is a frequently used industrial agent. Ammonia is highly soluble in water and has toxic and corrosive actions caused by its alkalinity. It is easily absorbed through mucous membranes. Ammonia affects the upper airways more than the peripheral airways. Following exposure to ammonia, the clinical symptoms appear instantly and may consist of nasal

The pathways responsible for an the mechanisms underlying the adaptive increase in ammonia production in response to acidosis are considered. It seems unlikely that the cytosolic pathways (glutamine synthetase, glutaminase II, phosphate-independent glutaminase, and gamma-glutamyl transferase) are of primary importance in the adaptive process, but the ...
