Ammonia

Medicine, 2003
Ammonia is a frequently used industrial agent. Ammonia is highly soluble in water and has toxic and corrosive actions caused by its alkalinity. It is easily absorbed through mucous membranes. Ammonia affects the upper airways more than the peripheral airways. Following exposure to ammonia, the clinical symptoms appear instantly and may consist of nasal

A Review of Electrocatalytic Reduction of Dinitrogen to Ammonia under Ambient Conditions

Advanced Energy Materials, 2018
The production of ammonia (NH3) from molecular dinitrogen (N2) under mild conditions is one of the most attractive topics in the field of chemistry. Electrochemical reduction of N2 is promising for achieving clean and sustainable NH3 production with ...

Recent Advances and Challenges of Electrocatalytic N2 Reduction to Ammonia.

Chemical Reviews, 2020
Global ammonia production reached 175 million metric tons in 2016, 90% of which is produced from high purity N2 and H2 gases at high temperatures and pressures via the Haber-Bosch process. Reliance on natural gas for H2 production results in large energy

Neurobiology of ammonia

Progress in Neurobiology, 2002
Hyperammonemia resulting from inherited urea cycle enzyme deficiencies or liver failure results in severe central nervous system dysfunction including brain edema, convulsions and coma. Neuropathologic evaluation in these disorders reveals characteristic alterations of astrocyte morphology ranging from cell swelling (acute hyperammonemia) to Alzheimer ...

The Oxidation of Ammonia

Nature, 1919
IT is regretted that there is an error in the second equation of those suggested in NATURE of April 24 which makes the scheme there given impossible. The writer still considers that nitrohydroxylamic acid is a possible intermediate product, as will be explained below, but it cannot be derived as previously given.

Ammonia−Water Cation and Ammonia Dimer Cation

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2009
We have investigated the structure, interaction energy, electronic properties, and IR spectra of the ammonia-water cation (NH(3)H(2)O)(+) using density functional theory (DFT) and high-level ab initio theory. The ammonia-water cation has three minimum-energy structures of (a) H(2)NH(+)...OH(2), (b) H(3)N(+)...OH(2), and (c) H(3)NH(+)...OH.
