Low‐Pressure Plasma‐Based Wrinkling of PDMS and Machine Learning‐Driven Property Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Wrinkled surfaces are well‐suited for controlled surface deformations in the µm range. The key challenge is the relation between the resulting wrinkle features and the necessary process conditions. Machine learning techniques have solved the prediction and inverse design problems for various preparation conditions, opening a precisely controlled ...

Optimization of ammonia nitrogen benchmarks and ecological risk assessment in monsoon freezing lakes based on species sensitivity distribution with Lake Chagan in northeastern China as an example

open access: yesEcological Indicators
There is an urgent need to determine reasonable water-quality benchmarks and risk assessment results to accurately characterize the relationship between crop yield enhancement and ammonia nitrogen pollution caused by excessive nitrogen fertilizer ...

A Perspective on the Applications of Triphasic Gas Storage in Electrochemical Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gas storage in microporous materials positioned locally at an electrode or electrocatalyst surface enhances electrochemical processes. Abstract Microporous materials store gases under dry conditions (e.g., hydrogen or oxygen via physisorption), but in some cases microporous materials also show triphasic (e.g., in a solid|gas|liquid system) gas storage ...

Effects of Chemical Modification on Removal of Pollutants with Carbon and Nitrogen from Aqueous Solution by Zeolite

open access: yes工程科学与技术, 2015
:The effects of six chemical modification agents of acetic acid, citric acid, sodium citrate, SDS, sodium chlorite, and HDTMA on the removal rates of low concentration of ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen and COD by zeolite were studied.

Identification and genomic analysis of a thermophilic bacterial strain that reduces ammonia loss from composting

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Ammonia loss is the most severe during the high-temperature stage (>50°C) of aerobic composting. Regulating ammonia volatilization during this period via thermophilic microbes can significantly improve the nitrogen content of compost and reduce air ...

Saturn: Tropospheric ammonia and nitrogen

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 1980
Photochemical calculations based on recent data on the Saturn temperature structure and Lyman alpha albedo indicate that detectable amounts of gaseous ammonia may exist between 20 and 35 km above the cloud tops. An instrument that might be able to observe this gas is the spectrometer on board the International Ultraviolet Explorer satellite.

Optimized Ex Vivo Human Liver Slice Culture Maintains Extended Viability and Function for Hepatotoxicity Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An optimized ex vivo human liver slice culture system preserves tissue architecture, hepatocyte function, and immune‐stromal complexity for at least five days. By refining slice thickness, oxygenation, air‐liquid interface, and extracellular matrix support, the platform enables human‐relevant hepatotoxicity testing and mechanistic studies, offering a ...

Fluctuations of nitrogen levels in soil profile under conditions of a long-term fertilization experiment

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2008
The present study is focused on the correlation between varied long-term fertilization and changes in soil nitrogen concentrations. It was found that all fertilization systems significantly increased the levels of total, mineral and organic nitrogen in ...
