The role of ammonia in promoting ammonia borane synthesis
Dalton Transactions, 2016Mechanistic studies point toward added ammonia acting as a reagent while promoting the high-yielding synthesis of pure ammonia borane from sodium borohydride and ammonium salts.

Ammonia inhibition of interferon synthesis
Cell Biology International Reports, 1981Ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) was found to markedly inhibit the ability of cultured human fibroblasts to establish an antiviral state following exposure to poly IC. This antiviral state was diminished by the simultaneous addition of as little as 200 microgram/ml of NH4Cl. The effects of ammonia on the superinduction of human fibroblast interferon (IFN-beta)

Utilization of ammonia for tryptophan synthesis
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1975Abstract A strain of Escherichia coli in which the glutamine amidotransferase function (anthranilate synthetase component II) of anthranilate synthetase has been deleted synthesizes tryptophan using NH3-dependent anthranilate synthetase component I (AS-I). In NH3-limited media this strain is a tryptophan auxotroph.

Ammonia Synthesis at Atmospheric Pressure
Science, 1998Ammonia was synthesized from its elements at atmospheric pressure in a solid state proton (H + )–conducting cell-reactor. Hydrogen was flowing over the anode and was converted into protons that were transported through the solid electrolyte and reached the cathode (palladium) over which nitrogen was passing.

Ammonia-mediated, large-scale synthesis of ammonia borane
Dalton Trans., 2014The presence of NH3 allows a high concentration, ambient temperature synthesis of ammonia borane from sodium borohydride in air using reagent-grade THF.

Development of ammonia synthesis
2011 National Postgraduate Conference, 2011Ammonia production is a high energy and capital-intensive industry as it obliges high temperature (400–500°C) and also high pressure (150–300 bar) for its daily processes. Two moles of ammonia are obtained by reacting one mole of nitrogen and three moles of hydrogen gases in the existence of conventional catalyst which are magnetite (Fe 3 O 4 ).

Proceedings of the Royal Society of Edinburgh
It having been shown by one of us that formic acid is produced by the union of carbonic acid and nascent hydrogen, it occurred to the authors to try whether other gases might not be made to unite directly with nascent hydrogen. Such experiments gave the prospect of being of especial interest in the case of nitrogen, as it was possible the synthesis of ...

The Direct Synthesis of Ammonia
2018The market for fertilizers in industrialized countries expanded greatly after 1900. Artificial nitrogen products, if they could be manufactured at the right cost, offered the potential for substantial profits from the agricultural sector. The interest in nitrogen capture was especially strong at BASF, the leading dye manufacturer at the turn of the ...

Ammonia and Methanol Synthesis
2011In the early days, the composition of catalysts discovered and developed by Mittasch that were used by BASF in the plants at Oppau and Leuna was kept secret. Apart from the fact that iron was used and that the process operated at high pressure, little other technical information was available until after the war had ended.
