Insight into dynamic and steady-state active sites for nitrogen activation to ammonia by cobalt-based catalyst

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
The industrial synthesis of ammonia using iron-based Haber-Bosch catalyst requires harsh reaction conditions. Here the authors show co-existence of dynamic and steady-state single atom active sites over Co-N-C catalyst to facilitate nitrogen activation ...

Glutamate Dehydrogenase Is Important for Ammonia Fixation and Amino Acid Homeostasis in Brain During Hyperammonemia

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2021
Impaired liver function may lead to hyperammonemia and risk for hepatic encephalopathy. In brain, detoxification of ammonia is mediated mainly by glutamine synthetase (GS) in astrocytes.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Highly Sensitive Electrochemical Biosensor Based on Hairy Particles with Controllable High Enzyme Loading and Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
For the first time, a highly sensitive electrochemical biosensor based on SiO2‐based hairy particles with a grafted PDMAEMA polymer brush containing a quantifiable and large amount of immobilized Laccase is reported. The fabricated biosensor exhibits a sensitivity of 0.14 A·m⁻¹, a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.1 µm, and a detection range of 0.3–750 µm,

Stability of Cs/Ru/MgO Catalyst for Ammonia Synthesis as a Hydrogen and Energy Carrier

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
The Cs/Ru/MgO catalyst was synthesized by sequential impregnation of Ru and Cs on MgO support using Ru(NO3)3 and CsNO3 precursors. Catalytic ammonia synthesis was carried out in a fixed-bed flow reactor using H2 and N2 as reactants.

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron
