Natural Variation of NAR5 Determines Nitrogenase Activity and the Yield in Soybean

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identified NAR5, a gene encoding a subtilisin‐like protease, that regulates nitrogenase activity in soybean nodules. Overexpressing NAR5 delayed nodule senescence, enhancing nitrogenase activity, yield, and low‐nitrogen tolerance. The elite haplotype NAR5HapI‐1 linked to superior nitrogenase activity and greater seed weight has been ...

Recent Advances in Laser‐Induced Graphene‐Based Gas Sensors: From Sensing Mechanisms to Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Laser‐induced graphene (LIG) provides a scalable, laser‐direct‐written route to porous graphene architecture with tunable chemistry and defect density. Through heterojunction engineering, catalytic functionalization, and intrinsic self‐heating, LIG achieves highly sensitive and selective detection of NOX, NH3, H2, and humidity, supporting next ...

Extracellular Vesicle‐Transferred ATP‐Citrate Lyase Induces Monocyte Differentiation Toward Tumor‐Associated Macrophages and Fuels Hepatocellular Carcinoma Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)‐derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) enrich the metabolic enzyme ATP‐citrate lyase (ACLY). EV‐transferred ACLY enhances palmitate biosynthesis, increases the S‐palmitoylation and stability of multiple immune checkpoint proteins, augments the cellular immunosuppressive activity, and ultimately accelerates the malignant ...

Ammonium compounds

2022
This chapter focuses on amines. Saturated amines are regarded as the simplest organonitrogen compound. The chapter highlights the importance of amines as they occur widely in nature and are used often as building blocks for more complex compounds and co-reagents in numerous organic reactions.

Determination of Quaternary Ammonium Compounds

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1961
Abstract The official potassium ferricyanide assays of quaternary ammonium, preparations can be modified to include a potentiometric titration with silver nitrate instead of the suggested iodometric method for the determination of the excess ferricyanide. Sodium nitrite interferes with the ferricyanide assay methods.

Quaternary ammonium compounds

36. Savetovanje dezinfekcija, dezinsekcija i deratizacija jedan svet - jedno zdravlje - zbornik radova
Next to their positive role, microorganisms are associated with numerous undesirable effects, including many diseases, food spoilage, and decay. Humanity have been combating microorganisms for centuries. It was observed that water could be carried on long journeys in silver containers or with silver or copper coins, and food was preserved using salt ...

Inclusion of Quaternary Ammonium Compounds by Calixarenes

Journal of Inclusion Phenomena and Molecular Recognition in Chemistry, 1994
In weakly polar solvents, strong association occurs between calixarene anions and tetraalkylammonium cations, with the magnitude of the observed equilibrium constants depending upon the charge on the anion, the solvent, the ring size of the calixarene and the nature of the alkyl group of the cation. Large upfield shifts of the methyl resonances of the [

Quaternary ammonium compounds and occupational asthma

International Archives of Occupational and Environmental Health, 2000
Quaternary ammonium compounds, among which benzalkonium chloride is one of the best-known, are commonly used as antiseptics, disinfectants, detergents and preservatives. They can cause occupational asthma, which however, has been rarely reported so far, despite wide use of these products. We report three such cases.

Diquaternary Ammonium Compounds as Transfection Agents

Bioconjugate Chemistry, 2001
Diquaternary ammonium salts constitute a new class of reagent for mediating transfection of DNA in mammalian cell lines. N,N'-dioleyl-N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-1,2-ethanediamine (TmedEce), N,N'-dioleyl-N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-1,3-propanediamine (PropEce), N,N'-dioleyl-N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-1,6-hexanediamine (HexEce), and their corresponding N,N'-dicetyl ...
