Microbiological Oxidation of Ammonium and Thiocyanate Ions in Soil

Nature, 1951
AMMONIUM sulphate1 and sodium thiocyanate2, when perfused through chalked soils neutralized by calcium carbonate, are metabolized by the growth of specific groups of soil microflora on the soil crumb surface to nitrate and ammonium sulphate respectively.

Far infrared and Raman spectra of ammonium thiocyanate and ammonium thiocyanate-d4

Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular Spectroscopy, 1972
Abstract The far i.r spectra of thin films of NH 4 NCS and ND 4 NCS and the Raman spectra of polycrystalline samples of both compounds have been recorded at −185°C. Two librations of the tetrahedral ions have been observed in each spectra and the barriers restricting reorientation of the NH 4 + and ND 4 + ions have been calculated to be 3.6 and 3.

Synthesis of ammonium [14C]thiocyanate

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2003
Ammonium [14C]thiocyanate was prepared from potassium [14C]cyanide with a radiochemical yield of 90%. [14C]hydrocyanic acid, generated from potassium [14C]cyanide by sulphuric acid, reacts with aqueous ammonia and elemental sulphur in the presence of trace amounts of ammonium sulphide to yield ammonium [14C]thiocyanate.

Herbicide: Fatal Ammonium Thiocyanate and Aminotriazole Poisoning

Journal of Toxicology: Clinical Toxicology, 1996
To describe fatal herbicide poisoning with Radoxone TL composed of aminotriazole and ammonium thiocyanate.A 54-year-old man was hospitalized because of unexplained coma with myoclonic jerks and vascular collapse. Despite symptomatic treatment with mechanical ventilation and vascular filling, life-threatening shock occurred with oliguria, profound ...

Copper-catalyzed thiocyanation of cyclobutanone oxime esters using ammonium thiocyanate

Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry
A copper-catalyzed thiocyanation of cyclobutanone oxime esters by potassium ammonium thiocyanate was achieved for the first time. Subsequent derivatization of thiocyano substituted alkylnitriles led to various sulfur-containing alkylnitriles.

Ammonium Thiocyanate for Detaching Antibodies from Histological Specimens

Biotechnic & Histochemistry, 1991
When different antigens must be demonstrated in the same structure, the permanence of former antibodies can lead to false identification of another antigen. The peroxidase-antiperoxidase method was used, followed by the oxygen acceptor ethyl-carbazole.

Solubility of Ammonium Thiocyanate in Different Solvents

Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data, 2009
The solubility of ammonium thiocyanate in different solvents (acetone, water, methanol, ethanol, ethanol + water mixtures) was measured by a synthetic method at different temperatures and at atmospheric pressure. The laser monitoring observation technique was used to determine the disappearance of the solid phase in a solid + liquid mixture.

Visible-Light-Promoted Aerobic α-Thiocyanation of Carbonyl Compounds with Ammonium Thiocyanate

The Journal of Organic Chemistry
In the present study, we successfully developed an efficient thiocyanation of carbonyl compounds by using low-toxicity and inexpensive ammonium thiocyanate as the thiocyanate source under visible light in air (O2) at room temperature. This unified strategy is very facile for thiocyanation of various carbonyl compound derivatives (β-keto esters, β-keto ...
