Amniotic fluid index curves in the obese gravida

Journal of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, 2020
OBJECTIVE: To determine whether amniotic fluid volume as measured by amniotic fluid index (AFI) is influenced by maternal pre-gestational obesity as measured by body mass index (BMI). METHODS: This was a ...

The amniotic fluid index in normal human pregnancy

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1990
The four-quadrant sum of amniotic fluid pockets (amniotic fluid index) was studied prospectively in 791 normal pregnancies. Interobserver and intraobserver variation was 3.1% and 6.7%, respectively. Logarithmic transformations were used to establish the mean and 90% confidence intervals for the amniotic fluid index at each week of gestation.

Intraobserver and interobserver variability of the amniotic fluid index

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1993
We assessed intraobserver and interobserver variations in the performance of the amniotic fluid index.A total of 34 women in the third trimester with intact membranes were examined twice by each of three examiners. The amniotic fluid index was measured once by each of the three examiners in order, then repeated by each examiner in the same order ...

Effect of fetal movement on the amniotic fluid index

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1993
Fetal movement has been shown to change the size and location of amniotic fluid pockets during measurement of the amniotic fluid index. The effect of redistributing the fixed intrauterine fluid volume on the amniotic fluid index is unknown. Therefore we tested the hypothesis that the amniotic fluid index was unaffected by fetal movement.A single ...

The amniotic fluid index in normal twin pregnancies

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2000
We sought to investigate the amniotic fluid index for individual gestational sacs of twin pregnancies.Four hundred eighty-eight patients with normal diamniotic twins were examined between 14 and 40 weeks' gestation. The dividing membrane between twin fetuses was identified.
