Animating blossom: Time‐lapse to encourage plant awareness in the YouTube era

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 5, Page 1572-1583, September 2026.
Time‐lapse videos can effectively capture key traits of flower blossoms, such as color, 3D structure, and temporal changes, making them valuable complements to herbarium specimens and other botanical collections. Despite the abundance of such videos on YouTube, most provide no ecological and botanical insights.

Four Novel Colletotrichum Species Associated With Anthracnose of Ornamental Araceae in Brazil With Insights Into Their Host Range

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 3, May–June 2026.
Five ornamental Araceae with anthracnose symptoms, collected in Brazil, yielded four new species of Colletotrichum. These were described and named. Cross‐inoculations of those species on six aroids showed them to be non‐specific. ABSTRACT Araceae includes numerous flowering plant species that are cultivated as ornamentals in gardens, pots or by the cut‐

On the thermogenesis of the Titan arum (Amorphophallus titanum) [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Signaling & Behavior, 2009
The Titan arum (Araceae) produces the largest bloom of all flowering plants. Its flowering period of two days is divided into a female flowering phase in the first night and a male flowering phase in the second night. Recently, we have documented thermogenesis in the spadix of the Titan arum during the female flowering phase. Here, we document a second

Zooarchaeological Analysis of an Atoll Assemblage From Central Micronesia

open access: yesArchaeology in Oceania, Volume 61, Issue 1, Page 177-198, April 2026.
ABSTRACT There has been a dearth of archaeological research on atolls in the central‐eastern Caroline Islands of Micronesia. This has limited our understanding of pre‐contact subsistence and settlement strategies in these more marginal and remote environments, particularly in regards to zooarchaeological data.
