Liquid Culture of Ampelomyces quisqualis, a Mycoparasite for Biological Control of Powdery Mildews.

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Phytopathology, 1998
Ampelomyces quisqualis produced pycnidia but not conidia on malt-yeast extract (MY) agar, while in MY broth the fungus formed both pycnidia and conidia in 7 days. Shaking the culture greatly increased the amount of conidia produced in MY broth. Among the vegetables tested, carrot broth was best for conidial formation under shaking conditions, followed ...

Mass Cultivation of A Hyperparasite, Ampelomyces quisqualis 94013 for Biological Control of Powdery Mildew

open access: yesResearch in Plant Disease, 2007
An isolate of Ampelomyces quisqualis 94013(AQ94013) was selected as an effective agent for biological control against cucumber powdery mildew. In order to develop mass production technique, six cereal media made with barley, rice, mille and brown rice, sorghumand rice seed were tested.

Stimulation of conidial germination of the powdery mildew hyperparasite Ampelomyces quisqualis

open access: yes, 2013
Pycnidial fungi belonging to the genus Ampelomyces are the most widespread natural antagonists of powdery mildew and they are unique in their ability to actively infect and kill the causal agents of this disease (Erysiphales). The level of biological control of A. quisqualis is often inconsistent under field conditions.
