A New High-Pressure Phase Transition in Natural Gedrite

open access: yesCrystals, 2019
High-pressure diamond-anvil cell synchrotron X-ray diffraction experiments were conducted on single-crystal samples of natural orthoamphibole; gedrite; with composition; (K0.002Na0.394)(Mg2)(Mg1.637Fe2.245Mn0.004Ca0.022Cr0.003Na0.037Al1.052)(Si6.517Al1 ...

High‐Titanium Zircon Rims in Rhyolite – A Reflection of Adiabatic Ascent?

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
The ascent of granitic magma from source to emplacement is rapidly achieved through dyking, resulting in negligible heat loss to the surrounding wallrock (i.e., adiabatic). Zircon growth during ascent can record the changing magma conditions including adiabatic cooling and heating, resulting in high titanium rims on low titanium cores without ...

Chemical and structural characterization of fibrous richterite with high environmental and health relevance from Libby, Montana (USA) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This study reports new structural and spectroscopic data of a sample of fibrous richterite from Libby, Montana (USA). The OH-stretching region was investigated by FT-IR. The spectrum showed, except for the typical absorption band at 3671 cm-1 assigned to

Greek Commodities in Phoenicia: An Interdisciplinary Study of Imported Amphorae From Tell el‐Burak (Lebanon)

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper examines transport amphorae of Greek/Aegean types from the 7th–4th c. BCE imported to the Phoenician coastal settlement of Tell el‐Burak, Lebanon. We present a selection of 58 pieces analyzed by typological, chemical (NAA), and petrographic approaches.

APG2: a New Version of APG, an Application for Amphibole-Plagioclase Geothermobarometry [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sciences, Islamic Republic of Iran, 2016
APG2 is a computer application designed for amphibole-plagioclase geothermobarometry. It is the first updated version of APG and supports 4 thermometer models and 6 barometer models involving either amphibole-plagioclase or amphibole only.

Geochemical behavior of chromium in minerals of high-Mg rocks, associated with granitoid massifs of the Urals

open access: yesЛитосфера, 2019
Research subject. High-magnesium rocks associated with the granitoid massifs of the Urals are represented by gabbro-diorites and their melanocratic varieties (hornblendites), as well as by diorites and quartz diorites.

Ceramic Production and Geodiversity in Iron Age Iberia: An Archaeometric Study of Pottery from Castrejón de Capote (SW Spain)

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The hillfort of Castrejón de Capote is one of the best investigated settlements of Late Iron Age southwest Iberia. Located in the territory that the classical sources attributed to the Celtici, it was occupied between the early 4th and the 1st centuries bce.

A neoproterozoic age for the chromitite and gabbro of the Tapo Ultramafic Massif, Eastern Cordillera, Central Peru, and its tectonic implications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The ultramafic-mafic rocks of the Tapo Complex are exposed in the Eastern Cordillera of the Central Peruvian Andes. This complex is composed of serpentinised peridotites and metabasites with some podiform chromitite lenses and chromite disseminations and

Six Ca‐Mg‐Fe Carbonate Reference Materials for In Situ Measurement of Oxygen and Carbon Isotope Ratios

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, EarlyView.
Key Points Six new Ca‐Mg‐Fe carbonate reference materials are available to the global geochemical community for calibrating oxygen and carbon isotope ratios by SIMS. Significant compositional matrix effects were observed in the dolomite‐ankerite and magnesite‐siderite series during SIMS analysis. Compositional matrix effects correlate with Fe variation.

Amphibole and apatite insights into the evolution and mass balance of Cl and S in magmas associated with porphyry copper deposits

open access: yesContributions to Mineralogy and Petrology, 2017
Chlorine and sulfur are of paramount importance for supporting the transport and deposition of ore metals at magmatic–hydrothermal systems such as the Coroccohuayco Fe–Cu–Au porphyry–skarn deposit, Peru.
