Lifetime quenching in Yb doped fibres
We have discovered that in ytterbium-doped silica fibres the excited state lifetime of a fraction of the Yb ions can be quenched to a very small value, leading to a strong unbleachable loss.

Cryogenic MMIC low noise amplifiers [PDF]
Monolithic (MMIC) and discrete transistor (MIC) low noise amplifiers are compared on the basis of performance, cost, and reliability. The need for cryogenic LNA’s for future large microwave arrays for radio astronomy is briefly discussed and data is ...

Adaptive control circuit prevents amplifier saturation [PDF]
Adaptive control circuit prevents saturation of push-pull output amplifiers used in low-power, low-torque suspension system. The adaptive control circuit senses how near the output amplifiers are to saturation and sets the B voltage in such a way as to ...

ABSTRACT Background Kaposiform lymphangiomatosis (KLA) is an aggressive complex lymphatic anomaly. Patients exhibit malformed lymphatic vessels and often develop hemorrhagic effusions and elevated angiopoietin‐2 (Ang‐2) levels. A somatic NRAS p.Q61R (NRASQ61R) mutation has been associated with KLA.

Double dual slope square rooter
A circuit which accepts input dc voltage V(I) and produce an output voltage V(O) = √V(I)V(T) by using double dual slope principle is described in this Letter. V(T) is a constant voltage which is fixed by two resistors and a power supply voltage. By using

ABSTRACT Background Families of children with cancer experience significant financial strain, even with universal healthcare. Indirect costs, such as productivity losses and non‐medical expenses, are rarely included in economic evaluations, and little is known about how effectively financial aid programmes alleviate this burden. Childhood brain tumours

Floquet-Mode Traveling-Wave Parametric Amplifiers
Simultaneous ideal quantum measurements of multiple single-photon-level signals would advance applications in quantum information processing, metrology, and astronomy but require the first amplifier to be simultaneously broadband, quantum limited, and ...
