Long-range, low-frequency acoustic amplitude and phase fluctuations at two frequencies [PDF]

Fluctuations of underwater sound at two transmission frequencies an octave apart (220 and 406 Hz) have been observed simultaneously for periods up to eight hours. Transmission was from moored sources to free-drifting hydrophones 260 km distant. The drifting receivers were tracked to within a fraction of a wavelength of the transmission frequency.
