Identifying and characterising a plant GH1 β‐glucosidase that exhibits hydrolytic activity on N‐linked glucopyranoside

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We report the first β‐glucosidase with demonstrated hydrolytic activity on an N‐linked glycopyranoside. The enzyme, native to maize, was biochemically characterised for this novel reaction, and structural modelling of the enzyme–substrate complex revealed several clues to the underlying reduced catalytic rate relative to its native O‐glycopyranoside ...

Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

Purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 for phase separation studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe detailed protocols for the purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 (MpARF2). This protein is fused to an MBP solubility tag and an mNG fluorescent tag and is purified from Escherichia coli. The presented procedures make it possible to study MpARF2 assemblies, which could arise from phase separation ...

Multiaxial Fatigue Properties of 2A12 Aluminum Alloy Under Different Stress Amplitude Ratio Loadings

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng, 2017
The multiaxial fatigue behavior of 2A12 aluminum alloy was studied with SDN100/1000 electro-hydraulic servo tension-torsion fatigue tester under different stress amplitude ratios, the fracture morphology and the fatigue loading curve were observed to ...

Amplitude ratio tomography for regional phase Q [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2005
We image regional seismic phase attenuation (Q) by extending amplitude ratio techniques, which are widely used to determine average Q within a sampled region, to obtain laterally varying Q structure using tomographic techniques. The method assumes that source radiation is isotropic and that the amplitude ratios can be modeled by a two‐dimensional Q map

Age effects on frequency amplitude ratio of cVEMP

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Otolaryngology, 2023
Abstract Background The vestibular system can perceive sound at high intensity levels. The recording of vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMPs) is one of the clinical techniques that capture the vestibular system when activated by sound.

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...

A Prospective Study of Individuals at Risk of Multiple Sclerosis Informs the Design of Primary Prevention Studies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective In multiple sclerosis, the optimal time for deploying a therapeutic intervention is before the central nervous system is damaged; given the success of trials treating the earliest stage of MS, the radiologically isolated syndrome, developing primary prevention strategies is an important next challenge.

The influence of shear‐velocity heterogeneity on ScS2/ScS amplitude ratios and estimates of Q in the mantle

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2016
Regional waveforms of deep‐focus Tonga‐Fiji earthquakes indicate anomalous traveltime differences (ScS2‐ScS) and amplitude ratios (ScS2/ScS) of the phases ScS and ScS2.

Hip abductors and thigh muscles strength ratios and their relation to electromyography amplitude during split squat and walking lunge exercises

open access: yesActa Gymnica, 2015
Background: The hip abductors (HAB), quadriceps (Q) and hamstrings (H) reciprocal strength ratios are predictors of electromyography (EMG) amplitude during load carrying walking at moderate intensity.
